About Ryan Jaekel

I fell in love with Eleuthera the very first time I drove through the Island. I was looking for a place that was not commercialized. A place that can bring you back to a simpler time. I was not sure such a placed still existed. Well, fortunately there is! I hope you will enjoy Seven Palms.

Best wishes,

Ryan Jaekel purchased this estate in 1997

Why Ryan Jaekel chose North Palmetto Point

Seven Palms is uniquely located near Governor's Harbour and restaurants but far enough away to ensure the privacy and nature most people seek when visiting Eleuthera. Not many properties offer you 70 acres of silver palm trees that sway beautifully with the ocean trade winds.

What makes this estate unique

Seven Palms is situated on 70 acres, with 1,200 feet of beach frontage. The beach here is one of the most spectacular beaches on the island. The breeze coming off the ocean is wonderful and un-comparable to other travel destinations. There are very few places left in the world where you can be on your own private beach and not see any other person.

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you're looking for privacy, natural beauty, lots of space, open and airy accommodations, peace and quiet, yet still be within easy driving distance to fun activities and great restaurants - then look no further. Seven Palms has all of this and more. The house is large and sprawling. There is a main, common room in the center with a large powder room, galley kitchen, living/dining area that opens up to a huge veranda overlooking the Atlantic ocean. You can hear the surf from every room. The six bedrooms extend off two arms from the common area, 3 on one side, 3 on the other. Each bedroom has its own full bath, and everyone agreed the beds were incredibly comfortable. The house and grounds are clean and well-maintained. At this writing, the house does appear to be undergoing a few minor renovations (i.e. doors and trim throughout are all primed and ready for paint), but this did not detract from any of the comforts the estate has to offer. The beach there was long, private, simply fantastic. The agent through which we rented was amazing: attentive, responsive, friendly, courteous, helpful, and very professional. He responded immediately to every question, large or small, during our rental process and always made us feel important and respected. Our property manager at the house was just as wonderful: attentive to our every need, always available, friendly, good-humored, and accommodating. She really made us feel welcome and at home! The housekeeper and her staff were likewise accommodating - adjusting their schedules to fit ours. The grounds keepers were unobtrusive and friendly. one of them even climbed a coconut tree for us one day (barefoot!) and with machete in hand, hacked off several coconuts for us. He chopped them open and we enjoyed fresh coconut milk right there! The Pina Coladas were never fresher than they were that day. Lanny's restaurant for take away food was terrific - they cooked for 11 of us even through a brief power outage! Tippy's is famous and did not disappoint. We also bought fresh grouper right off the boat in Gov's. Harbor and grilled it on the wood-fired grill that was ready for us every evening. I wouldn't hesitate to return here and highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the "madding crowds."

Amazing property, grounds, beach and snorkeling

  • 5 of 5
I booked this property, as well as the adjoining La Bougainvillea home, as a surprise for my wife's birthday. I had many inquiries and the property manager was very accommodating and helping to arrange for the surprise. This will be a long review but will include some tips we learned about Eleuthera and the area. In short, we had 15 guests and it was AMAZING. The grounds and homes are pristine with unmatched views. I travel often and haven't experienced this level of paradise before. Homes are in excellent condition, well equipped for entertaining and cooking and the staff is very attentive. There are NO negatives with these homes or property. The beach is breathtaking and the snorkeling is amazing right off the beach. We experienced as many as 25 species of fish within yards of the beach. Kayaking just off shore brings you reefs of 40 feet deep and amazing fish and coral. We experienced all kinds of lizards, crabs, etc. We also learned how to harvest fresh coconut milk from the trees and used it every day for drinks, etc. Amazing. The only drawback was the biting sand flies (no see-ums) which are aggressive and prevalent due to nightly rains and a roving pack of wild(?) dogs that come through a few times. Dogs appear harmless and want to avoid people completely. Deep Woods OFF was the only thing that worked for bugs and it was not 100%. List of Do's: Experience the island and people, snorkel, swim at night with full moon, Governor's Harbor Fish Fry (So much fun), buy fresh fish and lobster off the ramp in Governor's Harbor, eat and drink at Tippy's (right down the road), MUCH more! Don't Eat at Unique's (bad food and service), don't go outside without generous bug spray, don't leave personal items outside the home as we had some dogs "play" with our items like flipflops, suits, etc one night (no damage). We will return to this area and hope to stay in these homes again soon!

Perfect Family Retreat on Beatiful Property and Beachfront

  • 5 of 5
Seven Palms exceeded our expectations for our large family vacation in the Bahamas. Keep in mind Eleuthera isn't Nassau so be prepared to relax without the typical "resort" atmosphere, it is sparsely populated and few shops/restaurants, which is why we like it so much. Seven Palms is centrally located in Eleuthera, 4 miles from Governor's Harbour on the Atlantic side. It was easy to drive to both the north and south parts of the island with narrow but good roads in general. We liked going to Harbour Island for the day (which has some great scuba diving) and more shops but also don't miss Hatchet Cave as it was impressive. We didn't find it as difficult as some said even with our small kids and 79 year old grandfather. As for Seven Palms we found the design of the house fit our need to a T with multiple parts of our family being in the house simultaneously. 3 beds on the north side and 3 on the south wing with the great room in between. It actually has 6.5 baths with 1 for each bedroom plus a toilet/sink off the great room. It gave everyone space to relax on their own in their own spacious rooms with their own AC control and also mingle with the group at will in the large family room/dinning room and kitchen area. The staff were helpful and kept the inside and outside of the property clean and in excellent condition arriving everyday during the week, Mon through Fri. The occasional power outages (common for much of the island), quite a few lizards, bugs and spiders didn't interfere with our fun. The kayak, paddle board, high-speed WiFi/Internet and Mac computer along with large LCD with satellite were great features. We couldn't have asked for a better private beach located down a set of stairs in the backyard. Gentle sloping sand with only small waves meant perfect swimming and snorkeling at 6 to 8 reef formations (lobster, barracuda, angel fish, crab, parrotfish, squirrelfish and more). One reef is within 25 yards of shore in just 10 feet of water and others 50 to 100 yards. We did a ton of snorkeling at various places and it was hard to beat what we had right out the back door. The beach is good for kids (we had a 1 yr and 3 yr old). We did venture to Ten Bay Beach, a 15 minute drive, for the "no waves, shallow to 150 yards Caribbean experience".

beautiful spot

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay ay Seven Palms. Elvia was very helpful in renting the house, the staff was great in solving the few problems were encoutnered. We found we didn't have a blender (can you imagine a week on the beach without a blender?), Henrietta (the housekeeper) actually let us use hers. Typical for the people of Eleuthera, as nice and welcoming as any place we have been. Be advised, it is not for everyone, the roads are terrible, rental cars seem to all have issues, no real night life or "resort atmosphere". We lead a very busy life, so getting away and relaxing on this quiet, peaceful island is something we treasure. The house is very elegant and well cared for, the beach in front is gorgeous, and the location on Banks road is ideal. Tippy's and Tappa's right down the road, close to Gov Harbour. If your rental vehicle will get you there, we highly recommend exploring for beaches, there are plenty of guides to help. Friday night fish fry by the library in Gov Harbour is a great time, try the conch salad (the "Conch Ninja" makes it great, as "hot" as you can stand). This was our sixth or seventh trip, we are already looking forward to the next.

privacy in eleuthra

  • 4 of 5
The house was fantastic as 4 of the bedrooms look directly out onto the water and the beach is completely secluded. We snorkeled and swam every day and when you wake up in the morning the view from bed is stunning just beautiful lawn extending to blue ocean. It's a quick walk across the lawn and down the stairs to the beach. Forget about the Frommer's guides for Eleuthra as there is absolutely nothing going on there (hurricanes took most things out). But if you're looking to take a vacation and have some family time at the beach in solitude, this is your place. We highly recommend the restaurant at the end of the road. It's superb and the only thing to do! The golf course is over run with goats and overgrown so leave your clubs at home. A cruise line has a mock village set up on a piece of beach miles away from the house and there's a supposed lighthouse but in looking for it found that the roads would virtually disappear (hurricane again). The car agencies are all owned by one guy and you're either driving an old van or his old van. A visit to Harbour Island is fun and worth the drive. The library at Govenor's Point is worth the trip if only for the architecture and it's the closest town to Palmetto Point. Check out the conch piles and there's a couple of shops. Further out there is an artist's studio with a wonderful woman who runs the shop, we purchased a couple of paintings and a beautiful basket. With two bedroom wings it's nice if you're sharing with another family and again the views are incredible. Take a long walk on the beach and swim in the water we even saw a sea turtle. We went a few years ago and brought our kids and some friends and we are all still talking about that vacation.
