Nice place with friendly, helpful owners

We rented this property as a couple in the winter. We found the place adequate and comfortable with plenty of cosy, rustic atmosphere. This is a quaint but somewhat shabbily furnished real log cabin that is best for people who would rather be playing outside and are not picky about the details. Broken glass from a storm window littered the back screened in porch during our stay but otherwise we found the cabin fairly clean. There is a well appointed, updated kitchen but one plagued with very low water pressure at the sink. This meant washing dishes (no dish washer is available) would be time consuming. Not a problem for those of us who planned to eat out at the one of the many wonderful nearby Traverse City restaurants. Two favorites were the Red Mesa Grill and North Peak Brewing Company. The bathroom was very small but with better water pressure than the kitchen yet only "warm" water in the shower. Strangely, the sink in the bath had quite hot water. I cannot recommend trying to cram 8 people into this tiny place. A 4 member family of 2 adults and 2 children would be ideal if the adults don't mind sharing a the full sized bed in the master bedroom.
Owner's Response: Our place is very quaint, an original log cottage. However, it has nice furnishings, featuring log beds, newer furniture, full kitchen, free wi fi, full cable. So far, everyone who has stayed there has loved it. This is the perfect up north log cottage. I have never had one complaint about furnishings and it is better than most. We take pride in having good mattresses, plenty of linens and keeping everything in good condition. Most people are thrilled at our cottage and the lake. Regarding cramming 8 people in here, it has been done, but I do not recommend it. It is best used by up to 6 people, but I have seen larger groups have a really nice time. These renters had only 2 people, so I am not sure why they are concerned about someone with 8.
This place is clean, neat and very classic. However, it is not the Marriotte. We do not advertise dishwashers etc. We do not have room service or pillow top mattresses. The kitchen has everything you need. The pressure is from a well, it is adequate, but not great. This is the first complaint I have had.
The porch did have things stored, but is not really accessable in the winter, or part of the rental. That is why we charge a discounted rate in the off season.
We do have the nicest beach around, so everyone should keep us in mind for the vacation needs. We just had a group stay over Christmas and they had a terrific time. The skiing was great and the cottage worked very well for them.
Thanks
