The Barmons enjoyed the serenity of the Harstine Pointe environment for years and hope you will too. In fact, Harry loves Harstine Island so much that he was on the Board of Directors and head of the Architectural Control Committee of the Hartstene Pointe community at its beginning. He also personally poured the concrete on the original fire station, supervised volunteers and framed the structure which was later converted into the fitness gym.
Harry & Sue Barmon purchased this house in 2008
Harry designed and built Barmon's Vacation Home what it is today. Harry and a small crew had worked tirelessly weekend after weekend to construct the foundation, framing, siding, stone work and finish on the house. The hardwood moldings were made and finished on site. Harry paid close attention to detail when designing this house for form and function. You are safe from snow or tree falling while in Barmon's vacation home as the engineered structure was designed for shear and wind resistance to withstand such a blow.
Much of what you see inside the house is attributed to Sue's gifted talent of interior decorating. The interior design is an expression of Sue's endeavor to create a relaxing and inviting setting to blend the interior with the forest surroundings. Sue's careful eye and design skills can be seen through out the house right down to the door bell bear paw. Whether they were on vacation or out shopping, Sue's amazing ability to think of everything tied all of the decorating elements together before the house was finish being built. Her incredible attention to detail makes this home show room ready and worthy of a magazine spread.
As you walk around the house, you'll notice the stylish, professionally framed art, black and white photography. Talent runs in the Barmon's family, as these photos were taken by their 14 year old daughter, Lauren. Also, in the bathrooms, the high end custom tile work was done by the Barmon's talented nephew, Travis. Landscaping of native plants was also professionally done by David Barmon's landscape and design company which specializes in native plants.
As you can see, the Barmons are dedicated in making this wonderful vacation home as though you would want your home to be. The Barmons have enjoyed this home for years and want to share it with you.
Our home is equipped to provide all of the comforts that you might expect from the finest of vacation rentals. Set in tall native Douglas Fir, Cedar and Hemlock the home was designed to keep touch with its surroundings. Whether sitting in front of the fireplace looking out through the expansive wall of windows enjoying a passing storm or kicked back at the community pool or at the beach on a sunny day this is the place to relax regardless of the weather. We strive to make your vacation a memorable experience where you can relax with friends and family or share a private getaway for two.

I came here with my out of town family and we had a great time! The house was beautiful, comfortable, and well stocked with supplies. We had a great time combing the beach, biking around the island (they have bikes there), and sight seeing off the Island. We could all fit around the table and we ate like it was Thanksgiving and played games and laughing until the moon came up! It was charming, the family was a delight to rent from, everything was so easy! There were even two living rooms so we could play games while the grandparents watched movies and napped on the down stairs couch :) I DEFINITELY recommend the Barmon's Vacation home for any occasion and especially the holidays or family visits. My family came from NY and they loved everything about our vacation and staying at the Barmon's was the highlight! Knowing the weather can be less than predictable in the great NW, I wanted to add that even in the rain storm, we were cozy inside with plenty to do, we went to the beach and watched the storm roll in, then dried off in front of the fireplace and had hot cocoa and tea!
I wish there were more stars than 5. I also wish we had more time to stay. This is by far the best kept, best stocked home. The pictures don't do it justice. The communities/ammenities were great. There were over4 different beach areas to choose from, all very well maintained. This doesnt feel like a rental, it feels like you are staying at a friends house. When we drove through the gate it felt as if we were in a different state all together. The houses are built around the forest and island. Nature is all around you. We saw deer, racoons, squirells and every kind of bird imaginable. The house is beautiful, all the needed amenities, and plenty of space. We had 4 adults and 6 kids and had more than enough room. Harry really went all out on this "Home". Thank you Harry so very much for this great expericence, we will see you again in the summer!
We normally do a family campout every summer. This year was a little different, we couldn't find a campground, motel or cabin in the area we wanted to go. I was really lucky to find this home at a really late notice. Everyone was satified. It was in the woods with lots of nature all around us. We had deer looking in those big windows every morning. The kids were busy all week with bike riding, swimming, tennis, ping pong and lots of games and movies. The house was roomy, clean and very well stocked. I just hope we can go again, sure beats sleeping in a tent.
We thoroughly enjoyed the setting and coziness of the home and surrounding area. However we think it was not a great fit for a family with very little children. (1-3) We also had two other grandkids for two days (3-6). We also did not fully understand the distance from the island to outside activities or shopping. It is a place we may truly want to try when we want a getaway alone or with family when the children are much older. Thank yo so much for sharing your amazing home.
The home was large enough to accomodate our family. We were in the area for a family wedding in Shelton. We were able to walk down to the beach/water, enjoy the pool at the clubhouse with our kids, bbq food on the deck. Very clean, everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The owners were available to answer any questions. Harry was very good at answering or retuning phone calls or emails during the renting process and during our stay if needed. The island location is beautiful.
The only reason I did not give 5 stars is for 3 small reasons and 2 of them are not the owners fault. 1; there is a low profile electrical box that is located at the end of the driveway...I hit it with the fender of my rental car...not the ideal spot for such a utility; again Harry was very understanding and helpful. 2; The contact lady for the HOA or POA of the island just was not very friendly (not sure of the right word) with us...just seemed kind of annoyed with having renters on the island. We only had to deal with her for a total 5-10 minutes for the trip. 3; Initially getting into the community could be a little easier, if security or contact lady is not readily available you are sitting and waiting for the code to get in through the gate and possibly in the way of others getting into the community.
We do recommend this property, great house! Really nice owners!
My family has made an annual summer trip for 18 years and this trip was by far and away the best yet. The home was wonderful and very comfortable. The absence of a TV signal was a blessing. The entire stay was extremely relaxing and I highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to just get away for refreshing vacation. Everyone we met in the community was very friendly and made us feel at home. My only regret is that one week was not long enough. I will try and rectify that shortfall next year. Thanks again Harry.
