This tropical open air one bed condo is set right on the sandy beach in Rum Point on the Caribbean.
Just a few steps from the water, this property features great ocean views, convenient snorkeling and excellent swimming, protected by a reef, in the friendly community of Cayman Kai.
This is the best holiday rental value you'll find in one of the most peaceful, friendly communities in Grand Cayman. Visit the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Botanical Garden or Sting Ray City. Daily side-trips to Cuba available from Cayman air.
All free extras! We provide snorkels and fins. Please bring your own fitted mask. Free phone service is available for local calls as well as free High speed BroadBand wireless Internet access!
Comfortable Open Air Living with Great views: Simple Pleasures is a one-bedroom 910 square foot condo that sleeps two comfortably. It is tropical open-air living with screen porches at either end, positioned oblique to the tradewinds and the water to gentle the breezes and provide an unobstructed view of the Caribbean.
Simple Pleasures is one of 16 condos called the Sea Lodges of Cayman Kai, set on 3 ½ acres of which 400 feet front the Caribbean Sea, with sandy beach. Rum Point is like the Old Cayman, and unlike the tourist areas. There are no hotels and no building is over 3 stories high. Simple Pleasures at the Sea Lodges of Cayman Kai is located on a white sandy beach with ideal Caribbean swimming and snorkeling.
Sandy Beach and Clear Caribbean Water: The beach and the water off Simple Pleasures at the Sea Lodges are ideal. Simple Pleasures is set on a sandy beach -not an Iron Shore beach. It is on the Caribbean itself, not on the still water of a Sound. The gradually deepening water is perfect for swimming. The coral reef 150 yards out is easily reached by snorkelers.
The Sea Lodges have what the locals like to call” the 16 million-dollar view”. Simple Pleasures is right on that beach!
As a guest, we supply you with snorkels and fins. We recommend you purchase a quality mask that fits you perfectly before leaving for your rum Point vacation.
Eco-Tours: Hike the Mastic trail in 3 hours with a very knowledgeable guide from Silver Thatch Tours.
Paddle your kayak through the magrove waters-incubators of most fish we find on reefs right off Rum Point.
My husband, Bob, and I own sea lodge #20 at Cayman Kai, along with his 3 other siblings. We've been visiting Grand Cayman for over 30 years. Quite a bit has changed on the island in that time, however our little corner in Northside is surprisingly unchanged. Yes, the road is now paved, and public water has just been installed, but the quiet, secluded nature of our end of the island is still quite special.
Bob and I now live in Sarasota, FL with our two German Shorthaired Pointer rescues, Bailey and Lilly. Bob's parents, original #20 sea lodge owners, are 90 and 95, and live here in Sarasota as well. We like to visit them often and keep an eye on them. We have 2 grown children and 1 adorable grandson, Ezra!
Jan Stein purchased this condo in 1990
Our lives are all so busy, hectic, and full of chatter. Simple Pleasures is a special place to step away from all that and really breathe. I've resisted television and the telephone hardly rings. It's a wonderful place to truly relax.
To sit on the back screened porch and soak in the view and quiet presence is one of my very special things to do.
My husband and I loved the "quiet side". There were days when we were alone on the beach the whole day. The few times we ventured off to go to other beaches but we were always happy to come back to Simple Pleasures and get away from the crowds. The place was clean. The kitchen outfitted with all the necessities you may need. There is no air conditioning and we were there in June. Almost every night cooled and the breeze and fans made sleeping comfortable. In the day when the temperatures climbed we just spent the day on the beach. There was a night or two where the wind died down and it got hot so if you are a person who cannot tolerate (or gets sick) from warm temperatures I would visit during the prime months (winter). What was nice was the price was so reasonable that it afforded a 10-day stay. We wished we stayed two weeks, but since it was the first time we visited Grand Cayman we were reluctant to commit to two weeks. We fell in love with this island and are looking for our own condo for retirement.
We never missed a TV! There were a few nights when we used our IPad, NetFlix, and the Wi-Fi to watch a movie but only twice. HBOGo would not work there.
One final note I brought my own snorkel and mask. There are some at the cottage but one of the snorkels leaked (found out on the way to the reef) and one of the masks is cracked. My husband was able to find a good working snorkel and mask, but if I had not brought mine we may have been caught with only one working mask and snorkel.
Overall loved the island and the place and we will stay there again when we go house or condo hunting.
Perfect. An exceptional island getaway but still within a reasonable distance of Georgetown and many other activities/sights on Grand Cayman. 5 minutes to Rum Point (a great place to hangout and go to Sting Ray City) and 10 minutes from Kaibo (go to the Tuesday Beach BBQ). Perhaps the best attribute is the ability to walk 25 paces out the back door, put your snorkel and fins on and jump into a non-stop tropical aquarium! Amazing! Highly recommended!
Could not have made a better choice. The cottage was clean, comfortable and away from the crowded high rise hotel beaches.Sitting on the screened porch overlooking the caribbean for breakfast or afternoom rum and cheese just doesn't get any better.Even though this is the quite side of the island there were lots of activities only minutes away at Rum Point and more than enough good eating places. My wife and I had a great time.
When we arrived at Simple Pleasure we initially had minor issues related to the accommodation and appliances but after these issues were looked after by Barbara (Sea lodge manager) then everything was fine. We stayed at simple pleasure for two weeks and really enjoyed our stay. The location is so peaceful and relaxing with the private beach compare to the crowded and busy beach at Rum Point which was nice to enjoyed some local refreshments but we were pleased to come back to our cottage to soak some sun and read a book in the quiet setting that sea lodges has to offer. There was no TV in the cottage and let me tell you it was great! That’s what I call a vacation and quality time with your better half.
Renting a car is nice if you want to get around since you do not have the bus service like on the west side.
We traveled with our 12 year old daughter who complained "what no TV?", but in the end she loved the place as long as she could play her games on ipad and laptop. We loved sleeping with the ocean sound at night. This place is so secluded and it felt like having the ocean to ourselves. We even built a bond fire on the beach with 2 next doors neighbor. We give this place an Execellent review, but with an exception of both my daughter and I got bit by who knows what (mosquito, sea buck, not sure...)... My husband didn't get any bite mark. We definitely will consider coming back.
Our family stayed here on spring break in March 2009. We looked for a long time for a place away from all the crowds, and closer to the natural beauty of the Carribean. This sea lodge fit our needs and desires perfectly, with a spectacular view of the water, the beach right out the back door, snorkel gear and bikes, and convenient location to Rum Point and dive center. The open air architecture and overhead fans gives a back-to-nature feel, but with all the conveniences for cooking, and nice, clean furniture and lodge. The place was very clean, with no sand inside!
If you want to get away from the crowds, and enjoy a relaxing Carribean beach vacation, this is a great place to stay! We look forward to going back.
Simple Pleasures is located on the beach in Rum Point, 50 yards from the waters' edge. This part of the Caribbean is a Marine Park where all marine life is protected.
It is a ten minute walk from the Sea Lodge to the Wreck Beach Bar and Grille, the public beach at the Rum Point Club, and Red Sail Sports dive shop and watercraft rentals.
Grand Cayman is 260 miles South of Havana Cuba. Though only 12 feet above sea level it is 20,000 feet above the underwater Cayman Trough. Divers'-snorkelers' paradise. And affordable!
