Spruce Head Cottage is situated in a safe, quiet and friendly Village Neighborhood, within walking distance of a Post Office, Church and small General Store. Spruce Head Island, attached to the Village of Spruce Head by a small bridge, has two fishing docks where lobster boats bring in their catch daily. Two miles away is the 'Gig' Store perched on the edge of the harbor, near the Reversing Falls. It is well-known for its fresh lobster and crab-meat rolls. The harbor, or salt water estuary, is a popular spot where you can fish from the bridge or alongside the water's edge, casting your line for Stripers.
Rockland, a 10 minute drive away, has become an art mecca with many galleries including the famous Farnsworth Museum housing Wyeth and Winslow Homer originals. Rockland has an old-fashioned brick-fronted downtown with an active waterfront and is the home of several three-masted schooners that take passengers on daily or weekly cruises along the coast of Maine.
