Mill Valley is a picturesque California town of 14,000 residents and creative hideaway situated on the eastern slope of Mount Tamalpais. Nestled among redwoods, hills and canyons, Mill Valley is only ten minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge and City of San Francisco, yet less than one hour from Sonoma and Napa Wine Country.
What sets Historical Mill Valley apart is not just the spectacular physical beauty of its setting, but equally its human environment-uniquely combining tranquility and liveliness, privacy and community involvement, urban sophistication and village charm. Starting in 1905 with The Dipsea Race, the first cross-country race in the country, Mill Valley has a rich cultural tradition with the Mountain Play in 1913, the Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival in 1957, the Marin Theatre Company, a professional regional theatre in 1966, the Mill Valley Film Festival in 1978 and the 142 Throckmorton Theatre recently revived, although in existence since 1915. Re-opened in February 2012, after a lengthly absence, is the Sweetwater Music Hall located in the remodeled Masonic Hall, located two blocks from the Rental.
Mill Valley is flanked by the picturesque City of Sausalito, 10 minutes south and the Town of Tiburon 10 minutes east with Angel Island State Park only a one mile ride (via Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry), all on San Francisco Bay. Although Mill Valley is close to San Francisco, it is adjacent to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and only 10 minutes to the Muir Woods National Monument and Tennessee Valley Trail head, 20 minutes to Muir Beach, or Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, 30 minutes to Stinson Beach and less than an hour to Point Reyes National Seashore.
Although one recommends longer stays, Mill Valley is only a 2-1/2 hour day trip to Monterrey and Carmel and four hours to spectacular Lake Tahoe or Yosemite National Park; Yosemite Valley should be on your 'bucket list' and, especially during late spring, one of the most beautiful places in the world.

In addition to being within walking distance to over 20 restaurants, live theatre, cinema, market, coffee houses, shopping and other downtown amenities, it is a very large One-Bedroom (729 SF), almost three times as large as a typical hotel room, and large enough to entertain up to eight people.
As everyone staying here has indicated, this is a five-star rental. The previous review aptly noted that the owners have thought of everything to make you feel welcome in their comfortable and lovely traveler's haven, including the gracious gifts of fresh flowers, Bay Area wine, and a pound of famed local roaster Peet's coffee beans. This and such thoughtful practical details as clear and thorough renters' instructions, straightforward rental rates, quick and kind communication, and attention to down-to-earth minutiae, such as not just one, but three boxes of tissue placed strategically has me looking forward to staying here again, in the wonderful town of Mill Valley, with its easy access to all of the Bay Area, where I visit family annually. If you are looking to immerse in the best of Bay Area experiences, stay here.
I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay, the owners have thought of everything you'd need to feel right at home. Great location, super convenient to be able to walk to local shops. Have recommended to friends and family, and I would not hesitate to return!
This place was so wonderful I don't even k ow where to begin!
It was the perfect location, clean, and the owners were extremly easy to work with. It had everything you could ever need and more. On top of how wonderful the space is itself, we were greater with a bottle of wine, a pound of delicious coffee, and fresh flowers! It could not be any closer to down town mill valley but is still on a quite street. We travel to this area at least once a year and are already planning when we can come and stay again.
Very nice apt. close to downtown MV. Walk to Peets for coffee or any number of great places to eat. Quiet with everything you need. WiFi worked great and a computer was available for use. Bottle of wine and lb. of Peets coffee on arrival was a nice touch. During earth quake owner, who was out of town, emailed to check the all was well.
Stayed here with 4 kids and it was perfect in everyway. No nonsense pricing...so close to the center of mill valley and laundry machine and dryer! Mill valley is lush and quiet...discovered the park at the end of town(also walking distance from rental) with a stream and big redwoods....library right there too..highly recommened.
My family lives in Mill Valley, we have used this rental twice now, once for my parents and once for my in-laws. Both sets of parents have loved it. The location is ideal, it is super clean and has well appointed furnishings make it a perfect place for extra house guests, especially if you do not have an extra guest room in your home. I highly recommend this rental, it really has everything you need for a perfect vacation spot.
