It was a very relaxing trip and your location is
AMAZING! My husband and I loved the snorkeling especially around the
bend to the north where the fallen rocks are. It was beautiful! Oh how
I wish it was lobster season when we were there! I could not believe
how many we saw in and around the rocks right in front of the house. We
were fortunate enough to follow an octopus for a while one day as well
as come across a spotted moray eel in some rocks right off the deck.
Not to mention the hundreds of groupers, angel fish, etc...it was some
of the best snorkeling we've done in the Bahamas!
Beautiful home located right on the caribbean! Perfect deck location for watching the most beautiful sunset ever! The home is extremely accomodating and no details were left out (including an outdoor shower). Very private and very quiet! I enjoyed being able to lay out on the beach on the Atlantic side AND the Caribbean side....on the SAME day! How cool is that? The home is very clean and comfortable....not many vacation homes have an Eames Lounge and Ottoman! Friday night fish fry is a must! As is buying fish from the local fishermen. I don't remember where, but when you turn out of the house, turn right and you will find the fishermen. Lobster fresh out of the water....and CHEAP (delicious as well)! I highly recommend this if you are looking for a peaceful, serene, beautiful destination for your Bahama-vention!!!
Loved our trip to Eleuthera to the 2 Sisters Cottage in February 2015. Simply beautiful location with fantastic snorkeling and swimming right outside your door. The location is incredibly peaceful and we loved the Tiki Hut and diving board. Fantastic island, great people - would recommend this bit of paradise to everyone.
2Sisters is a well loved two bedroom cottage on Little Bay. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the upstairs verandah listening to the birds as we looked over the bay in the mornings. The grounds are nicely landscaped. There was no-one in the immediate neighbour properties except for the last 2 days and I could see that this might change your experience - we liked the peace and quiet. There were days when Little Bay was as flat calm as it could get ....the water was like glass. It was my kind of snorkelling .....lazy.....no fighting with waves lots of beautiful fish. One morning I watched as 4 fish torpedoed across the bay and a flash of minnows jumped out of the water ahead of them. I was a bit nervous about the ladder access into the water but it was very comfortable. We snorkelled both ways .... To the rocks under Coconut Cliff and in the opposite direction around the point ....this was some of the best snorkelling we did. 2Sisters is ideally located on the centre of the island ...we went to lighthouse beach and spent a magical day with James Dunnam out of Spanish Wells. The owner was excellent to deal with and the caretakers Ada and Doyle Sands were great ..after having lunch at Unique Village one day we stopped off at a store....and there were Ada and Doyle ! Small island. Ada and her sisters make souvenirs (straw bags/shell ornaments etc) that are sold in the store - well worth a visit for locally made crafts. Of all the trips we have done I would have to say that I've held on to the feeling of total relaxation from this one the longest. 2Sisters exceeded my expectation in some ways - The property description is very clear - I didn't expect that it was so set back from the road ....all of the different outdoor spaces....the sunsets...the snorkelling...the birds...
Can't say that we saw anywhere else we would have preferred to stay. We did debate a lot about going to a place noted for it beaches and not staying on the beach ...but the snorkelling was so good and being on the sunset side meant the evening seemed light for longer..no regrets about this choice. Double Bay, Ten Bay and Savannah Sound beaches are close by.
As noted by the the owner this is not a good property for young children or those with physical limitations due to the ladders and decks.
We stayed at 2 Sisters Cottage with another couple in Feb. 2011. The house is comfortably furnished and nicely decorated. The views of the sea and tropical garden from the porches are simply splendid- your private tropical paradise. Right out front , in Little Bay, the snorkeling just might be the best in the Bahamas. We saw a huge green sea turtle, dolphins playing in the distance and innumerable other sea creatures. We had it all to ourselves too, except for a rare passing boater. Sublime!
PS- We really miss that diving board and Tiki Hut- from morning coffee to evening sunsets. Can't wait to return.
This is defintiely the place for anyone seeking peace and quiet and relaxation and seclusion. We went to about 10 different beaches and barely saw any other people. One day was "crowded", there were about 3 other people there ;)
After jam packed east coast USA beaches, this was a VERY welcome change! Many of the beaches have got to be among the top beached in the world. powder soft pink sand, warm turquoise water... I couldn't believe how spectacular they were and no one was there!!! Where else in the world can you experience that?!?
(Actually I think Harbour Island is listed as one of the top 10 beaches in the world.)
The house and surrounding landscaping are really nice. Designer furniture, well decorated. The diving board into the Caribbean sea is a really cool unique touch. First time doing that!
My boyfriend and I were there for 10 days and read a lot of literature and got really tan- not something we do at home! also did a bit of exploring and felt adventurous.
Overall it was a perfect vacation. Highly recommended for beach bums.
NOTE: Take into account that you will need to rent a car for exploring/going to lots of beaches. Bring bug spray.
My husband and I just returned home on Saturday, April 17, 2010 and were very sad to leave. We had never been to the Island before and before even landing, the color of the water and the views were breath taking. We decided on 2 Sisters being that we wanted to go some where "secluded", peaceful and relaxing to spend our 25th Anniversary together....it was everything we could of imagined and MORE! We loved the snorkeling out in the bay in front of the house, it was absolutely amazing. We traveled to Cape Eluethera which is at one end of the island one day, stopping at various places and beaches and then another day we went to the other end of the Island up by Current Cut. We took over 600 pictures while we were there because "everything" to us seemed worthy of a picture. We also did some spelunking (Hatchet Bay Caves & Ocean Hole Caves) which I thought I would NEVER do but I got my courage up and it was fun. The secluded beaches were so amazing and beautiful as well. I could go on and on and on about how fabulous this trip was for us. If you like seclusion, privacy, and peacefulness for a vacation, this is definitely the place to go.
Little Bay is located in central Eleuthera about midway between Governors Harbor and Tarpum Bay,. The area is famous for numerous beautiful deserted beaches and gin clear ocean water- a blue that defies description in words. Natural beauty abounds, though services such as restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations are close by and easily accessible. You will find the locals extremely helpful and friendly.
