I rented this cottage for my husband and I while he was home on leave from Iraq. We thought it would be a nice place for family and friends could come and visit while he was home. Were we wrong. There is very little parking at the property. The neighbors were very rude. The worst part was the owner. We spend at least 2 hours cleaning the cottage before we left. We did every thing that was asked on the list and still did not get back our total deposit. We will not be staying on this lake again.
Owner's Response: This rental cottage is well maintained and clean. It is held to the highest standard of cleanliness for each new reservation check-in and owner inspects personally before each check in. It is located in a quiet, serene and peaceful setting, right on the water with very friendly neighbors. Basic courtesy and consideration is always expected from renters toward nearby neighbors who reside in their lake homes during the entire year. Renters are welcome to have a reasonable number of guests during their stay. Parking is limited, therefore hosting large parties and entertaining many guests is discouraged. This cottage should not be viewed as a hotel due to it's location in a small and quiet lake community. Parking policy is clearly stated as parking for 3 vehicles and cottage maximum occupancy is also clearly stated as 8. Additional parking options are available off-site, but not in the neighbors parking areas. Cleaning and damage policies are explained in the rental agreement which is signed for each reservation, prior to submission of deposit for reservation. Cleaning/damage deposits are returned in full, within 2 weeks of departure to all rental groups; except in cases when the cleaning policy is not followed and/or damages have occurred (requiring replacement or repair of damaged items). I, as the owner, wish all renters and their families will relax and enjoy themselves to the fullest extent, while using common courtesy to others who live nearby. My hope is that all renters will respect this pleasant cottage as if it were their own home leaving it in fine condition for the next family to enjoy their lake vacation. This is the case the majority of the time, however not always. The Guest Book located at this cottage provides numerous highly favorable commentaries which are excellent testimony of past guests very positive and enjoyable experiences during their stay. Pine Lake is wonderful place to live and visit!
