El Gran Escape: As you look across the infinity pool out to the far reaching horizon framing your view of the Caribbean Sea you grasp a true sense of the infinite and your place in it. Our pool boasts a shallow sunning area and swim up bar with seating for six. Your hardest decision will be whether to get in the jacuzzi or possibly retreat for a siesta in one of the four bedrooms, three of which have a full view of the sea and surf. After all you may want to rest up for the BBQ you are planning in the outdoor kitchen. Or, since you have been spending enough time in relaxation and contemplation, you may want to take a taxi or golf cart the few kilometers to town for a bit of night life. The traditional Mayan town is just far enough away to afford both privacy and excitement depending on your mood. If you wish to stay in this tranquil Casa for the evening we can assist with catering, provisioning and daily maid service for an additional fee. More photos at www.elgranescapeisla.com
This house was a pleasure to stay in we had eight people and we had no problems except the heat in the hot tub Miguil CAME three times until he got it fixed anything wrong they took care of it asap . It was as the name says a gran escape would do it again . You need a golf cart to really enjoy the island . I love the island and now six more people love it . JULIE YOU GOT A GOOD CREW AND A BEAUTIFUL HOUSE !
We spent a week at the house and can't wait to return. We loved the iguanas, hermit crabs and assorted other creatures that visited. Sue and Miguel are great. The location is south enough on the island to be quiet and peaceful and close enough to some great restaurants and places to visit, provided you get a golf cart. Also, cabs are plentiful and inexpensive. We were there with four of our adult children and their spouses and the house is spacious enough so we were never in each others way. The pool overlooking the Caribbean and outdoor living area are the best! Thanks for a fabulous week!
We have stayed various places on Isla Mujeres for the past several years. We had the pleasure of staying 12 nights at El Gran Escape' our last visit.
I will start with the negative: We only had 12 nights, and eventually had to check out :(
We had a warm welcome from the property manager when we arrived. We were given a tour of the house, and they were very helpful at answering any questions we had. There are four bedrooms, each with a wonderful view of the ocean with the exception of one room. We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. There is also a bathroom for guests, and one by the pool. The pictures do not do the home justice. Each room and area in the house is beautifully decorated and very clean. The house is large enough that a family or multiple couples can stay there and have plenty of privacy if wanted. All of the appliances worked perfectly. We had cookouts using the large gas grill by the pool. There is also a small refrigerator by the pool that kept our drinks colder that any refrigerator we have used in Mexico. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub tremendously. Someone came by every few days or so to clean the pool. The property managers were so nice and very easy to contact and get an immediate response from if we had any questions. They checked on us periodically to see if we needed anything. We got to know the iguanas that hung out on the cliff. And, they love watermelon. The beds were comfortable. The water pressure on this end of the island is a little different we have noticed at various places, but nothing that is an issue in paradise :) We saw a few of the tiny local ants near the trash can a few times. But, we have been visited by these locals at each house we have ever rented when food is plentiful. And, boy was the food plentiful! :) But, one quick wipe with a paper towel and, poof! Gone! A golf cart is always more convenient on this end of the island. The house is very close to many wonderful places to eat, and we also had pizza delivered. There were six of us staying at the house for part of this stay, and everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed this perfect vacation home. We just fell in love with El Gran Escape'! I would highly recommend this home to anyone. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Sue, Miguel, and Julie for everything! Job well done! Will definitely be back.
Michelle and Rob
We had a great stay and the house is very nice. The management was very helpful and Sue came by the day we arrived to make sure all was well. We had the same issue of no water mentioned by a couple of other folks on here but I think it's more the water supply rather than anything to do with the house. Keep in mind you are on an island in Mexico, not big city USA. The appliances all worked well except for the drier which seemed a bit slow. The pool is incredible and the Jacuzzi does have heat. The view is breathtaking and the location is great. We would recommend a golf cart of moped, it would be a long walk to town. Overall everything was great and we would definitely recommend it.
We had the very fortunate opportunity to stay at El Gran Escape for the second time. We needed to see if we could try to top our first stay because it was that great! Well, it just got better and better. No picture you see will ever compare to what your eyes will see here in person. With a gorgeous palace and breath taking views you can see from most of the rooms, it's really difficult to leave and head back to "reality." Julie and Dick were very accommodating hosts and had a ton of suggestions for things to do on the island. Even though there was plenty to do on the island, we really were quite content with sitting pool side and gazing over the infinity pool with the ocean in the background. Every night I looked forward to the sounds of the giant water fall in the living room. And every morning I looked forward to waking to the sounds of the ocean and the gorgeous view from our bedroom. Until next time Isla and El Gran Escape!
Trip of a Lifetime!
We recently stayed at Escape to celebrate the New Year and my 30th birthday with a group of our friends. The house could not have been more beautiful and had all the comforts of home, even Wi-Fi. We had absolutely everything we needed and everything worked, including the filtered water ice maker, which can be hard to find in Mexico. The fridge, dish washer and washer/dryer seemed to have all been recently replaced. They had everything that we needed to cook at home and had no issues with any of the appliances.
If you are staying with a group of people, it is perfect as every room has its own bathroom, safes and beautiful views, of course. You have your own private pool and hot tub. It was wonderful being able to be in the hot tub when it rained or in the evenings. The neighbors were all fabulous and friendly, and we all felt very safe.
Julie was wonderful, told us all of the best places to go, gave us recommendations for golf cart rentals and made sure to check in to make sure things were going well. They were even kind enough to meet us at the ferry. It was such a memorable trip and we cannot wait to go back!
We are located toward the South end of the island approx. 3/4 of the way outside of town. Our casa is 7 minutes by golf cart to North Beach and 5 minutes by taxi. Some of the best swimming and snorkeling beaches on the island are located just a few minutes away.
