Excellent Get-Away

My boyfriend and I stayed here at the beginning of summer, and it was great for the two of us (though it would certainly work for big families too - this place is huge!). We had a week here and found something different to do everyday: tour Taos art galleries, hike the forest surrounding the house, go horseback riding on Wheeler Peak. In the evenings, we'd fix a drink at the house wet bar and hang out in the Jacuzzi, barbecue on the back patio, or watch a movie on the big screen upstairs. There's an indoor atrium and I loved to have my coffee there in the morning. My boyfriend was a lot more interested in the professional stove in the kitchen and I know he had a lot of fun cooking dinner each night.
It was a completely relaxing experience. The views around the house are stunning at all times of day, and we felt hidden away from city hubbub and stress (we took frequent naps in the outdoor hammocks!). At the same time, Taos is about 30 min. away and there are neighbors within walking distance, so you're not totally cut-off if there's problem. The owner doesn't live here, but she was always reachable by cell and her housekeeper was nearby if we ever needed her. We really loved it and we're planning on coming back as soon as we can.
