Perfect home base for the White Mtns

My husband and I rented this apartment for a Labor Day weekend getaway, and we couldn't have asked for a better base for our adventures. We sampled some of the hiking trails off of the Kancamagus Highway and in Franconia Notch State Park. We drove up Mt. Washington (and saw a dachshund at the summit whose owners claimed he'd climbed all the way up himself ... maybe we'll try that next time). There was even a 19th-century stone iron furnace right across the street from the apartment, which was particularly cool for history buffs like us. In short, there were way more activities than we had time to do!
The best part was that at the end of the day we went home to a totally private apartment on a quiet street. We could cook our own meals (there was even a grill), and all of the rooms were spotless. The living room had the most comfortable chair for curling up with a book or catching up on the college football games we'd missed. Our dog felt right at home and loved gazing out of the windows.
Finally, Paula was a great hostess. She made sure we knew she was available if we needed anything, and she went out of her way to mail us a water bottle we'd left behind.
