Most relaxing vacation ever!

Review Submitted: August 3, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Exceeding my expectations. Bristol is very conveniently located between Burlington and Middlebury. Vermont is a great state. Lots of things to do for both adults and children. My week there was the best vacation (and most relaxing) I've ever had. Cabin was clean, kitchen was well stocked, beds were very comfy. The cabin is very privately located. I loved sitting on the deck watching the river as the sun went down. I want to come back in the fall when the leaves change. I highly recommend this spot!

Cabin by the river

Review Submitted: January 14, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
Having read previous reviews, our expectations were quite high regarding the amenities, cleanliness, and location. However, our jaws literally dropped when we arrived and experienced first hand the natural beauty of the river. Bristol is perfect for a get-away vacation, while retaining some of the pleasures of upscale area (terrific bakeries, gift shops, and gourmet dining.) Both Middlebury and Burlington are accessible, as well as Vergennes -well worth the trips for shopping and dining. The Green Mountains are spectacular and provide gorgeous vistas at every turn. Don't miss the Bristol ledges hike (moderate) which provides views to lake Champlain and beyond. Wherever we traveled, it was always delightful returning to the cabin by the river.

An idyllic setting to be revisited again.

Haven-fun Beachwood, NJ
Review Submitted: September 20, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
A very clean cabin. If anyone forgot something it would be in the cabin. There were games & books full of hiking paths and other travel routes. The gurgling & tamed New Haven River is alongside the cabin. We stuck our feet in the River. The Bristol inhabitants were very hospitable. We went into every store in the town. The candle store,Honey Lights, is terrific. The Orb weaver cheese Farm is in New Haven & 10 minutes from the cabin. Robert Compton Pottery is in Bristol; this is exceptional pottery. A great cabin. A great State. A great vacation.

What a wonderful place!

Review Submitted: July 31, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Had an incredible time here! The cabin was well described on the website so I felt as if I already had been there when I first walked in. Easy to find the place. Arrived and it was raining buckets but did a quick look around before settling in: extremely well stocked kitchen (probably better than my own!), lots of space to store clothes and luggage, comfy bed, perfect view of the river, lots of VT books and info on the area, TV with cable (for the rainy days and checking the Weather Channel to see when it was supposed to clear up!) and on and on. I grew up in the area and it was helpful having info on new (and old) places to visit nearby. Re-visited Cubbers and enjoyed the Bobcat Cafe immensely. The bakery was still there (opened when I was a kid) and the goodies there are worth the quick trip into town. Also greatly enjoyed just sitting on the deck and on a rock in the river. Am a bird nerd and the waxwings, phoebes, and goldfinches were a delight....as was turning over rocks to see what critters were calling the rock home! The sound of the river was comforting and wonderful to sleep to. Blueberries were available a mile down the street from a local farm.
I wholeheartedly recommend this rental (but not for the week I'll want it again next year!) :)
Owner's Response: We are so glad you had an enjoyable stay at the cabin and look forward to having you back next year. Thanks for your kind comments. We are glad you found the cabin to have sufficient storage for clothes and luggage. Storage space depends, of course, on the number of people staying at the cabin.

Perfect location

quiltmaker Austin, Texas
Review Submitted: June 30, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We enjoyed so much staying here in late May, 2008. The cabin is small but wonderfully equipped. The bed was very comfortable (always a problem for me!). Everything you need to cook meals is here, and it has been stocked with cooking essentials so that you don't have to buy those things that you need in small amounts The location on the river is PERFECT. Bristol is a wonderful small town with several very good places to eat and some fun small shops. Be sure to check out Robert Compton's pottery outside of Bristol and the shop for Vermont Folk Rocker both on Rt 116 just outside of Bristol. The owner was very quick to answer emails and sent us a packet of information about things to do in the area. We could easily have stayed two weeks and had things to keep us busy every day, but it is hard to leave the cabin by the river!
