Across the street from Scarborough State beach currently under construction, this is the ideal beach vacation home for the extended family. The home will be complete in April of 2008. When finished everything will be new including beds and furniture. It offers 3,800 square feet of living space. It has an open floor plan with the kitchen, living and dining area open to 2nd floor deck with a beautiful view of the beach. The Master bedroom and two third floor bedrooms also walk out to the over 500 square ft of deck space. It has great views of the beach and ocean from its many windows. There is ample parking and a large backyard. This is a premium home with hardwoods and amenities you would expect like central air-conditioning. Most importantly, it is 50 yards from one of the state’s best beaches.

Just walk 50 yards to this beautiful beach and swim, surf, sunbathe or surf cast from the rocky point a few steps to the north There are many attractions close by to Scarborough Beach. Within a few minutes drive are three other beautiful beaches, several wonderful restaurants, and the Port of Galilee, which is a quaint, fishing village featuring shops, restaurants and fishing charters. This is where the ferry leaves to go to Block Island. The famed seaside town of Newport is 15 minutes away, Providence and its weekend water fires are about 40 minutes away, and two casinos in Connecticut are within 30 minutes.

Great House, Great Location

We just returned from renting this house in July 2009, we had a wonderful week. This house has it all - size, accommodations, and best of all location. Very short walk to the beach. If you have a large family, or friends that come and visit during your vacation, this place is the place to be.

We rented end of July and had a wonderful week. This house accomodated 16 people very comfortably. The location is convenient to everything and to walk across the street to the beach was spectacular. Large back yard for plenty of family games and 3 floors helps to make large gatherings more roomy. I have suggested bedrooms be equiped with lamps/end table[s], more couches; main floor and lower level and on the 3rd floor there is a cute smaller room which would make for a wonderful quite reading room. This house was brand new and the owner was very receptive to my suggestions. Looking forward to next year.

Great beach house

Great location - a very short walk to Scarborough Beach. New and clean. Huge house with 3 large full bathrooms that lack enough towel bars - laundry rack would help this problem - but there are outdoor railings on the 2nd and 3rd level. My family (brother and sisters with some of the younger generation) has had reunions since 1995, and this place was one of our favorites. Although it lists a/c, 3 lower level bedrooms and TV room were not air-conditioned. After our week was over I e-mailed the manager with some suggestions and he said he would have brought over units, so speak up! I would rate this home as EXCELLENT if you don't need a/c in all rooms.

There are 3 grocery stores nearby: Stop & Shop, Shaws were the ones we used. Be sure to get a club card to save money. Aunt Carrie's restaurant is closed on Tuesdays - the day we chose to eat out, bummer!

Block Island ferry is very close and makes a fun day trip. Taxi rates are set by the town for tours ($55 for 1st two, $10 for each addtional person). We found a van big enough for 10 of us. good beaches there too. Some of our group toured the Newport Mansions, others went to Foxwoods Casino and did a whale watch out of the Block Island ferry area.

HIghly recommend this one for the house and the area - wish it was my turn to book our reunion next year - I wouldn't look any further!
Owner's Response: The house was finished in May of 2007 and rented from June 1st. No one mentioned the first floor was not cold enough. There is central air conditioning in the house that goes down to the first floor, after reading the review I have added some window units on that floor.
