House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Lattice House is the ultimate tropical villa. Set in a 60 acre private reserve, 3 minutes above beautiful Playa Hermosa, surrounded by jungle, you will enjoy spectacular ocean views from every room, from the decks, and the infinity pool.

Enjoy its unique Bali modern architecture, and custom-designed finishes and furnishings, all imported from Bali.Lattice House was built and has been lovingly maintained as my home, and you will feel as though it is your own private paradise for you stay.

You will have an onsite manager/concierge to take care of your ground transportation, activities, catering, restaurant reservations, so that you can spend all your time just enjoying your stay.

Lattice House is conveniently located half-way between Dominical and Uvita, right off the coast highway. You won’t have to spend your valuable vacation time driving up and down mountain roads to enjoy incredible views and privacy. The reserve encompasses large park-like spaces, orchards, and even more area maintained as jungle, with trails leading to numerous streams and waterfalls. In any direction, you see only white water coastline, mountains, or rain forest. On any given day, you may see (and hear) howler and white-face monkeys, coaties, tayras, agouties, sloths, toucans, aracaries, hummingbirds, parrots, and dozens of other bird species, all from the house decks.

Lattice House is a spectacular place, and I am happy to share it with our guests.

The master bedroom (king) and bedroom/office (double daybed) and two full baths are on the main level; two bedrooms (one queen, two twins) and a full bath are on the lower level. There are two sofas in the living room that can be used as additional beds.

Lattice House has all the amenities you expect in a luxury home and much more: partially covered total infinity pool with heated jacuzzi; four covered patios and decks; air conditioning in all the bedrooms; slate and marble floors and bathrooms; lattice work and hardwoods from Bali; outdoor master bath with copper soaking tub; copper and stone sinks; high end, fully equipped, stainless steel kitchen; beautiful furnishings, artwork and accessories.

Lattice House is a unique house in a very special property, and we look forward to sharing our piece of paradise with you.

About Patricia (Pat) Williamson

My late husband and I purchased the property in 2000, and finished our retirement home in 2007. We loved the whole 3 year process of working with the Costa Rican and Balinese architects and designers and overseeing the building of our dream home. We originally planned to live there full-time, but that was before 15 grandchildren came along, and we decided to split time between Costa Rica and Houston/Galveston. Unfortunately, he did not live long after Lattice House was completed, and I decided to spend more time at my home in Galveston, near family and friends, and to share my home in Costa Rica with others who will love it as much as I do. I still get to spend about 3 months a year there--mostly in the summer when I can escape the Texas heat! I have wonderful friends there and treasure every minute I am there. We have wonderful times---hiking, swimming, boogie boarding, bird watching, and sharing wonder meals at home and in local restaurants. The picture is from a dinner at Lattice House on my trip last summer--me in the middle rear, surrounded by some of my closest Costa Rican friends who are fortunate to be full-timers and Michael McCoy, second from the right front, from Bali, who was the primary designer and who continues to send new furnishings. Since that picture, he has had made for me beautiful new coconut dining chairs. Lattice House and Reserva de Achiote are my love, and all the rental income goes to its upkeep and improvement.

Why Patricia (Pat) Williamson chose Uvita

My husband and I wanted to retire to the tropics and in the early 90's started looking in Costa Rica. We loved the idea that it was so democratic and had no army. The first place we visited in 1993 was Dominical, but at that time there was no paved road from Jaco, and we decided it was just too remote for our later years. We looked all over CR, and by the time we decided no place was as beautiful as the southern Pacific coast, the road had been paved to Quepos and there were a few crucial amenities. We spent 3 years looking at property and finally in 2000 found Achiote, the most beautiful, accessible, and private property in the area. I retired in 2005, and the next day we were on a plane to our paradise.

so fantastic it made me cry!

This is going to take awhile.....I have so much to say about this stunning property. Following the homeowners very specific directions, you come upon the driveway into the property and it looks hidden and non descript. You turn off the coastal road and enter the property through a simple gate.......then you're eyes start to buldge because you can't believe this is where you have come to stay. A beautiful upward curving manicured tropical drive is lined with palm trees. This goes on for a good half of a mile as you ascend the reserve-like (I think it is a reserve - 50 acers) property. Then you see the house. Wow. I said to myself, "All my hard work in finding the perfect house for the perfect family vacation (my parents included) and I DID IT!" The house is soooo perfect. The photos say it all. It should be in architectural digest (remember David Bowie's house in Bali - this is as close as you'll come to it without traveling over the pacific). The views are stunning and dramatic. This is a great location for a photo shoot. I am an architectural designer and this was nirvana! I took soooo many pictures and hope to put them up on this site if there is a way to share them. Stop your search, I have done it for you (40 hours of house hunting - no kidding!) This is the place for you! The house itself is peaceful and secluded. Several mornings I woke up early and hiked up behind the house into the ancient forest to discover tree frogs, monkeys and toucans The dining is great in the dominical area and grocery shopping is 10 mins down the road. The caretakers are very enthusiastic and a wealth of information. Dominical is the place to go because it is still the unspoiled true Costa Rica. This may be over the top as far as a review but when you have a vacation this great after putting in so much time and energy you feel like you've won the Oscar for travel planning.

The small print: I am in no way related to or knew the homeowners when I booked this house. I just loved it in the photos and made the contact!

One of our best vacations ever

  • 5 of 5

There were seven of us in our group. We had a perfectly wonderful stay at Lattice House and we all hated to leave, it seemed so perfect for us, so well equipped, and so beautiful. The pool turned out to be perfect for our 4 ½ year old – and the rest of us too. The staff was really great. Ana was there for us at the drop of a hat, and very helpful. It was remarkable how Alexandria and her helper could come in and serve our great meal and be almost invisible! The grounds and pool people were hard workers and friendly while staying in the background. We felt very well cared for and yet in our private paradise. Some of us took surfing lessons, others rode horses, we did some bird watching tours as well as bird watching off the deck, we went snorkeling, and we spent a lot of time in the warm ocean waters. The fun local beach towns with great restaurants drew us in a lot. But the best was the time on the deck, in the pool, relaxing with the great view and enjoying being together.

We hope to return - this was too fun to do only once!

Great relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

I would have to say the reviews we read about Lattice House were all right on. You can lose track of time at this place if you are someone that can just chill out, enjoy the pool, and not need any special entertaining. There is lots to do in the area, but we had a hard time leaving the house. I wish we could have stayed longer and will try to do so if you can get back there.

Amazing Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Cannot say enough about our vacation and accommodations at the Lattice House. Everything from the breathtaking views, gorgeous home, amazing house manager, meals prepared by personal chef, private transfer service from airport and so on. We tried to take advantage of all the other reviews and so our vacation was so organized yet relaxing. The trip from airport to this area was far, but having the van pick us up allowed us to relax. We did try to cook a few nights but in hindsight would have just gone out to dinner or dinner prepared for us. We did the canopy tour, whale watching (whales were right next our boat-it was crazy), beach excursions and stayed at the house, in the pool and just loved the sights and sounds of the reserve. We hiked through jungle to waterfall twice. So great to have on property. We even got to hold a few monkeys after the canopy tour. So cute!!! We stayed with another family so there was 9 of us. Because the kids shared it worked out and Ana helped us figure out best way for everyone to be comfortable. (5 children 11yrs-16yrs). We highly recommend that if your plans take you to Costa Rica, you must stay at the Lattice House. You will not regret!

Magical

  • 5 of 5

This place is Magical!!We were blessed to call it home for 10 amazing days. Ana and the staff were perfect and kind. The wildlife OMG!!! We will miss hearing and seeing the howler monkeys every day in the trees in the front next to the road. Their roars would wake us up in the morning. It sounds like “Jurrasic Park”.The cleaning ladies spotted a wild pig and took us there. The birds, lizards, butterflies and insects were beautiful!! I have to say the geckos were our favorite. We will miss hearing them chirp and seeing them at night.

The House! It is every bit what the photos show, then you walk in and look around, then out to the deck, you see the pool and that view!!!And it all comes to life; we immersed ourselves in it. I think it is safe to say we have fallen in love with Costa Rica. Tears are rolling down my face as I say farewell. Pura Vida.

Wish we were still at the Lattice House!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to Costa Rica and the Lattice House was the perfect place to stay. The house is everything you see on the website and more! The house has a great layout - 9 of us (5 were teenagers) stayed there and we never felt like we were walking over each other. The pool and views are absolutely beautiful! The property is so peaceful and the hike to the waterfall was a good workout, but also lots of fun. We did a lot of stuff but I would have been happy just hanging out at the Lattice House all day. Pat, the owner, sent us a ton of useful information before we arrived. Ana was there whenever we needed her. She answered my many questions before we got there, as well. Alexandra made dinner for us twice - it was delicious. So far, this was the best vacation rental we've ever had. We loved it and definitely want to come back again!!

We highly recommend -

Osa Canopy Tour, Bahia Aventuras whale watching, La Parcela, Goathouse 169, Las Esteras, Road Shack, Coconut Almond bread from the Uvita market, Guava marmalade
