We have two self catered properties , Chalet Marmotte and Chalet Chamios. They are situated next to each other in the small hamlet of Villarabout, which is one mile from the centre of St Martin de Bellville. Both chalets were designed, constructed and furnished to a very high standard in 1998 and since then have been maintained to the same high standard for your comfort and enjoyment. Large lounge diners with real log fires, large sofas, easy chairs, television, videos, music centre, games and wifi internet connection all combine to make your stay an enjoyable one. Large balconies allow you to enjoy the splendid views of St Martin and the mountains even at night with your after dinner drink

The Accommodation is set up for 12 persons in 5 ensuite bedrooms and consists of the following. (This can be increased to 14 persons) Top Floor - Large family room with one double bed and two single beds, ensuite shower and its own balcony. Middle Floor - double bed with ensuite bathroom and double doors on to main balcony. Ground Floor - two twin bedrooms with ensuite showers and double doors on to the pathway. Bunk bedroom with ensuite shower. This room is smaller than the other bedrooms but the beds are full size and to the same standard Large lounge diners with real log fires, large sofas, easy chairs, television, videos, music centre and games all combine to make your stay an enjoyable one. Large balconies allow you to enjoy the splendid views of St Martin and the mountains even at night with your after dinner drink as one of the mountains is lit up A fully equiped large kitchen with washing machine ,dish washer.micro wave.oven fridge frezer and linen is provided

Confortable and well-equipped chalet

Chalet Marmotte was very clean and well-equipped (even the luges). Even if there was no snow in Saint-Martin, we enjoyed the Christmas week with all the family. The large family bedroom was very convenient for the children. Saint-Martin de belleville is a nice village. The skiers could take the gondola in the village to the Ménuires (where there was snow) with no problem of parking.

Chalet Marmotte Christmas 2014 into New Year 2015

I booked this Chalet for myself, wife, 2 children, brother and sister in law, and our friends and their 2 young children. The Chalet exceeded our expectations and was very spacious with each bedroom being en-suite. The sole bedroom on the first floor, where the kitchen, living room/dining area are, had a bath, but all others had showers. The pictures do not do the rooms justice, and the owner should update his pages to show each room, and the living room which has a wonderful real fire and unlimited wood.

We were taken aback upon arrival to find the owner had already decorated with a Christmas Tree and festive decorations.

The only negative about the facilities themselves would be that the underfloor heating was set too high, and did not seem to want to come down, and one evening the hot water did not work.

The owner was around and was very helpful in every case, even lending one of our party some snow chains for the week.

The other limitation is the distance into St Martin proper. By car it is about 6 minutes but on foot it is 25 minutes on an unlit road; so if you are a heavy drinker you will need to plan ahead or get a taxi.

Though there is a free bus that shuttles between Villarabout and St Martin, we never once managed to catch it as despite having a timetable the bus drivers clearly had a more casual approach to actually turning up. One of our group waited 50 minutes for a bus that should be every 30 minutes and gave up and came back for his car.

Parking in St Martin is free, but the early bird gets the best parking space close to the sole lift out of the village.

Would heartily recommend the Chalet for those with their own cars.

Owner's Response: Unforternetly the trip switch on one of the heating tanks tripped only the second time it has happened in 18 years and I was able to remerdy as soon as they told me . Under floor heating is timed to come on at night and two hours mid day when the electricity is at a cheap rate. Unforterenetly at the time I throught it was hot because the sun was on chalet all day and heats the chalet up plus they had a fire going . I since discovered that the underfloor heating switch had been reset to constant instead of automatic as it was the week before when other guests were in the chalet . How this happened I do not know but it is all ok now .

this is our 5th stay and again faultless... the problem with having to review the property honestly is that it might get so popular I may not be able to book my favorite weeks.

first class chalet with excellent en suite facilities.clean and well provided

would recommend this chalet to anyone although you do need a car to

get to the ski lifts but parking at the lifts is very near and more than adequate.

two minor points re our week-our ground floor en suite bedroom shower head was not operating on all outlets and kitchen cooker

seemed temperamental.

the afore mentioned minor critisisms should not hide the fact that this is a tremendous chalet in which to spend a weeks skiing.i have been i think spending a week skiing at this chalet every year for the last 13 years

Zeer goed verblijf in schitterend skigebied

Voor de tweede maal vebleven wij in chalet Chamois met een groep van 13 personen, van 18 jaar en ouder. Het chalet is van alle gemakken voorzien en was bij aankomst weer heerlijk schoon en de bedden opgemaakt.

Aan het einde van de ochtend komt de zon op het balkon van de zitkamer en wil je eerder in de zon kan dit op het balkon van een van de slaapkamers.

Vanuit het chalet is het 5 autominuten naar de skilift en een skibus stopt dichtbij.

Het is niet lang wachten bij de lift en in mum van tijd zit je midden in het skigebied.

Er zijn verschillende adressen waar je ski's kunt huren en de supermarkt heeft voldoende assortiment. Verder zijn er genoeg restaurants om uit eten tegaan en dat allemaal in St. Martin de Belville.

Aan het einde van de dag sloten wij het skien af in restaurant Dahlia, waar je ook lekker kunt lunchen.

Het was altijd weer goed thuiskomen in het chalet.

Heerlijk bij elke slaapkamer een badkamer en voldoende warm water voor iedereen.

Als we weer met deze grote groep gaan skien dan verblijven wij weer in de chalet. Goed gelegen in een geweldig skigebied.

The chalets are in the pretty hamlet of Villarabout 1 mile from the centre of Saint Martin de Bellville the gateway to the three valleys ski area . This beautiful Savoyarde village still combines the charm of a traditional farming village yet is often referred to as the gateway to the three valleys, but we refer to it as a skier’s paradise. The reason for this terminology is due to the fact that the access into the three valleys is superb. The three valleys have over 600 kilometres of prepared pistes and famous resorts such as Courchevel, Meribel, Mottaret and Val Thorens: this has to be the best ski area in the world. The slopes into St Martin are blue and red, so they are ideal for beginners. The local area has extensive off piste areas, which are ideal for skiers and snowboarders. Snow canons and the local piste conditioning machines ensure that the slopes are kept

Of course in the summer then mountain biking ,walking ,horse riding ,tennis and rafting are available as well

We are near several hill climbs of the Tour de France and its a good area to train for cycle races .

We are only 90 minutes from beutiful town ofAnnercy and its 18 kilometer lake with wonderful swimming and sailing and paragliding opertunites . Or just take a ride on the lake steamers .

Ski: The Skiing

St Martin de Belleville is often referred to as the gateway to the three valleys, but we refer to it as a skiers paradise.
