One-of-a-kind property in North Eastham near bike path and ocean beaches. Property consists of two buildings; a main house and a studio. The main house has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs), plus a large sun porch, kitchen and living room. The studio has 1 bedroom (on the second floor), a half-bath (on the first floor) and a family room. Both buildings are air conditioned. There is also a 2-car garage in which there is a pool table. The main house has post-and-beam construction throughout with many special features. The family room in the studio has a cathedral ceiling. There are numerous sky lights throughout both houses. It is a truly unique property which sits on a quiet, dead-end street, is beautifully landscaped and is adjacent to the National Seashore protected woodlands. Modern amenities, including HD TVs and WIFI throughout. All furniture and electronics were bought in 2007.
We really enjoyed staying at this house. The house is comfortable and spacious and has some nice outdoor space as well. The studio space is private even though it is right next to the main house.
We liked that the house is on the edge of the forest and walking on the trail that runs behind it. It is a short drive to the many bay beaches and is very close to the bike path.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
We picked out this house because it has a separate studio with living space and bedroom. We had two teenage girls with us and they loved being able to be off on their own. We barely saw them during the week. The house is very nice and has plenty of space plus lots of air conditioning which we needed in the 95 degree heat. There is also a nice outdoor deck and shower. The pictures on the website fairly represents the property. Our only issue with the house is that the cleaning fee seems fairly high considering you have to provide your own linens. Although this is somewhat offset by the reasonable rental. ( I am always surprised by the number of homes with rents so high that nobody rents them.)
The only other issue and why I did not rate the property 5 stars is the location. It is rather far off the beaten track (although very close to Cape Cod bike trail). We spent a lot of time driving to places. In addition, the nearest beach (Nauset Light) has extremely limited parking. If you are not at the beach by 9 or 10 you can forget about parking. We were forced every day to drop off people at the beach (which they hassle you about), and then park our the car about a mile away at Nauset high School. Consequently we had to walk the mile back and forth. The next nearest beach, Coast Guard Beach, also has limited parking and typically fills up by 11. If you don't get a spot in the lot there is no alternative. There is also no good alternative for food shopping except in Orleans which is about an hour's round trip in typical cape traffic.
Overall , if you want a quiet peaceful vacation (although there is a shooting range about 400 yards from house with gunfire during most of the day) I would highly recommend the property, especially if you have teens. (There is a great skateboard park in Wellfleet if you have teenage boys). If you want more to do and more convenience I am not sure North Eastham is the best place. We prefer Wellfleet or Chatham for those reasons.
We stayed in August 09, had a great time, this house has a seperate studio apartment my teenage girls loved this. The main house was great it was almost too big for us. This was the best house we have rented so far, very close to all the beaches. We were very happy.
