The suite in the Isaac Hathaway House is 1200 sq. ft. , the full upstairs unit with two bedrooms, and a deck with views of Narragansett Bay. This historic property is located in Portsmouth, RI. Portsmouth is one of the most beautiful towns in New England. Wherever you do not see the Bay (we have 56 miles of shoreline), chances are you overlook a farm or pasture. The town has one of the most progressive farm preservation programs in New England. Portsmouth is easy to get to by land, sea or air, and is just a stone’s throw from all the major business centers, activities and attractions in New England. Cape Cod is an hour east, historic Newport a few minutes south, beaches and sailing in our back yard. At which of our 5 marinas would you like to moor your yacht? (Perhaps you would prefer to use our Town boat launch, or use one of the over 1,000 private moorings.) Newport county is famous for its sailing (America’s Cup for over 100 years) and marine (Naval War College, Naval Undersea Warfare Center) traditions.

Newport International Polo invites players from around the globe to play at beautiful Glen Farm in Portsmouth. Saturday evenings are filled with the excitement of horseplay. It is a casual event that's great for families and dogs alike!!

Revolutionary War History: The Fort Barton Redoubt: For about three years during the Revolution, when the British held Aquidneck Island, Tiverton was an asylum for Americans fleeing from British occupation, and the town became a mustering point for Colonial forces who gathered together to drive the British off the island. When the British captured Newport in December 1776, it was well understood by the Continentals that the English might attempt to enlarge their sphere of occupation in the direction of either Providence or Boston. The shortest water distance between the Island of Aquidneck and the mainland, and therefore the most logical point for troop crossing, was at Howland’s Ferry, Tiverton. The Massachusetts General Court agreed to aid the State of Rhode Island in erecting fortifications on commanding ground overlooking this narrow strait, thus establishing a vital defense at this key site. On 28 June 1777, TIVERTON HEIGHTS FORT was commissioned.

Very clean appartment, the beds are clean and confortable.

You are 10 minute drive away from beaches, Newport ...

Large parking, quiet area, very close for grocery store

Owners are avalaible and very frendly

We had a wonderful time staying at this rental. The owners are very friendly and made you feel at home. The property is gorgeous. The owners thought of everything so you don't have to bring a thing. Our dog loved the yard and enjoyed lounging on the hardwood floors. The place is very clean and well maintained. Only about 15 minutes from Downtown Newport. It was so nice staying outside of the crowds of downtown and there was so much to do. Can't wait to go up again.

We highly enjoyed our stay here. The suite is so warm and inviting. We brought our dog Nero and he loved the privacy of the large back yard. The back porch was a wonderful place to enjoy our coffe in the morning overlooking the bay. The place was immaculate and you see the owners take pride in this location. We are planning to return next Fall to see the foliage.

Wonderful home away from home

What a perfect place to call home when you're on vacation. It is a home. This apartment has an old charm with much character. Very spacious rooms, very clean, and lots of closets. The master bedroom is down a little hall and the second bedroom is off the living room which allows for privacy. The yard is georgeous and the deck is covered by a huge shade tree. The owners were very very nice and we plan to stay there again if they'll have us. There are activities in every direction. Wineries, polo, mansions, outdoor markets, cookoffs, beach etc... We were never bored. I would recommend this property to anyone who does not like hotel rooms or sleeping in someone's guest room on their vacation. The price was very reasonable considering the amenities.
