The Glavica apartment is located near the village of Okrug Gornji on the island of Ciovo which is connected to Trogir by a bridge. There are isolated beaches and coves within walking distance and the main beach of Ciovo with its beach-side cafes and bars is 10 mins walk away, as are the local shops and restaurants. The stunning World Heritage Site of Trogir is 3km away. Here you will find a colourful daily market and fish market, loads of good restaurants, bars, cafes, shops amid beautiful architecture spanning nearly 3000 years.

The apartment is located on the top floor of this seven year old building and has been adequately equipped for a comfortable stay for 2 people, with a sofabed for occasional use. The accommodation comprises bedroom with a double bed (cot available) with views across the bay to the mountains beyond, bathroom with a shower and a washing machine, living area with air-conditioning and a fully fitted kitchen and a small balcony with views of the harbour.

Car hire.: Q. Do I need to hire a car if I am staying at the Glavica apartment?

A. It is worth considering car hire. Although you have shops, bars, restaurants and beaches within a few minutes walk, Trogir is about 40 minutes walk. There is a local bus but it is not reliable during the main season due to the traffic on the bridge. There is now a ferry in operation that takes about twenty minutes and cost one pound.

Q. Where is the best place to hire a car?

A. My guests inform me that it is cheaper to hire a car in Croatia, rather than booking it online. There are many car hire places at the Airport. I have negotiated a 5% discount Porto, just over the long bridge in Trogir. They will deliver the car to you in Trogir within about half an hour and you can claim your 5% discount by quoting Dalmatiansun.

There are isolated beaches and coves within walking distance and Okrug beach, with it's beach side cafes and bars, is a few minutes walk away. The local harbour area has several good restaurants and is a busy, lively place during the season.

The World Heritage Site of Trogir is about half an hour on foot or by ferry. Here you will find a colourful daily market and a Sunday fish market and stunning architecture spanning nearly three thousand years.

Visit the fascinating Roman city of Split; enjoy the bustling capital of Dalmatia and the Emperor Diocletian's Palace.

The lakes and waterfalls of Krka National Park are a pleasant, relaxing and cool experience. Consider an organized trip which includes a visit to Sibenik and a boat trip to the main falls.

The small islands of Drvenik Mali (small) or Veliki (big) is an hour by ferry from Trogir with its typical Mediterranean country walks with beautiful bays, sandy beaches and a handful of bars and restaurants.

The holiday was great. Your web site was completely honest.. We swam in the sea every day, went for long walks, explored Split, went to Krka for a day, Makarska and the Cetina Gorge for a day, explored Kastela, and spent quite a lot of time just walking around or having coffee in Trogir, which is very beautiful. I liked Split. It's its own place - take away the tourists and, by and large, Split would still be Split.

One of the highlights for me was a day on Hvar, which is extraordinarily beautiful in the interior. We stopped at an isolated restaurant and went walking off-road, following paths through all the walls and piled up stones, smelling all the wild thyme, fennel, rosemary, ate figs picked from trees we passed, came across little shrines and, miles from any habitation, the most extraordinary tiny little stone chapel, no more than 10ft by 10ft, with a beautiful altarpiece painting. I am no expert in these things, but it was old and stunning.

My sister and I stayed at this apartment for a week in August, although at the height of the tourist season we found the location to be quiet but not too far a walk to the beach bars, bakery & supermarkets.

It is a good base from which to explore Ciovo, Trogir, Split & Krka waterfalls. For the less energtic there are many beautiful beaches on which to put your lilo (necessary as pebble beaches) & swim in the crystal clear sea.

The apartment was very clean & comfortable & the caretaker couple could not have been more helpful.

It is located at the top of a hill but unless you have mobility problems I dont think this is a big problem.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

We collected our car from Split airport and arrived late after a long delay to a warm welcome.

Apartment is exacty as described and suited our needs perfectly - it is modern, spotlessly clean and is in a pretty and very quiet but rather hilly location. It's on the top floor of the block too so overall may not be ideal for anybody with mobility problems.

Ther are a couple of supermarkets and good restaurants, several beach bars, a tiny marina and a bakery nearby but you'll really need a car for exploring the rest of the locality.

This was our first visit to Croatia - we visited nearby Trogir, the Krka National Park, spent a day in Split exploring the Dicoletician Place and took a boat trip to the island of Solta. All highly recommended.

We had a wonderfully quiet and relaxing holiday There's plenty more to see and do, the apartment is ideally placed for more exploring so yes, we'll be back.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Good accomodation and good island to explore

I Recommend using this as a base to explore local area without needing a car.
Accomodation was accurately desribed and additional view out of Bedroom gives views of sunset. Would recommned this accomodation. Only marked down slightly as sun was only on balcony in the morning, but not far to walk to coast.
Our requirment for proximity to intersting walks and this was met,. Had a good time exploring south side of island. Recommend walk to Okruj Donji and take a drink on the terracing of the Cafe behind the post office (down some steps).
Trogir is a lovely town and more unspoilt than Split. It had many places to eat. Bus service appeared patchy, but buses from Trogir further afield was OK.
Split market had excellent atmosphere but thought without market it would not be a full day out.
Konoba Duga restaurant is well respected in other forums and did not dissapoint.
Olivers restaurant was OK basic food served up quickly, OK if you are in a hurry but otherwise you feel rushed.
Overall we have lasting memories of a good appartment well situated for exploring on foot with good scenry and friendly locals encountered on our walks.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car

Wonderful holiday in the Glavica apartment!!! Fully recommend coming here. We did not have a car and it was so easy to get around. However, if you are unable to walk up a steep hill then a car would be necessary.

Lovely apartment, fantastic area and cannot wait to come back!
