This beautiful private home is located on the charming Isla Mujeres, the Island of Women…just a short 20-minute ferry ride from bustling Cancun.

Step through the gate into the privacy of this tropical sanctuary where exotic plants surround the sunken pool and a small waterfall spills from the grotto into the pool below. This spacious four-floor home includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms, two living rooms each on a separate floor, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, outdoor dining area, and a beautiful outdoor pool surrounded by flowers. The house is air conditioned and equipped with ceiling fans throughout. Each of the four bedrooms has a full bathroom and double closets. Why Jugna Shah chose Isla Mujeres

This house was built by a French architect and decorated by his house and we were lucky enough to purchase the house just shortly after it was built. The house is well built with spacious rooms, nice-sized bathrooms, and lots of private outdoor space.

What makes this house unique

The house is located within walking distance to Chedraui - the huge full size grocery store that opened in late 2011. Being able to walk over and stock up on supplies and fresh bread and produce daily is a real treat! And if you don't feel like cooking, you can reach several of the island's best places to eat on foot within minutes. Taxi's are plentiful on the island and you can grab one outside of our front gate within minutes. The home is very private yet close to fabulous restaurants, beaches and downtown.

La Casa Luna Y Sol - awesome place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This house totally exceeded our expectations! The home is lovely, with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and a well-equiped kitchen. The private pool with a waterfall made it feel like a tropical paradise. Everything was very clean, the property manager made us feel like we were close friends and he made sure that we had everything we needed to make our visit perfect. I was a little worried prior to going there because the house was not in the heart of the activity at Playa Norte. After our first day, I was so happy to get back to the privacy and relaxation of the house after a day at the beach or in town shopping. The cab ride was only $2 for the entire car and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for a cab. We rented golf carts and mopeds for the first day and toured the entire island. What a great experience! After that, we did not need transportation. Isla Mujeres is like taking a step back in time. In our opinion, Isla gives you the opportunity to get a glimpse of the simple life and culture of the people, without all of the hoopla. The restaurants were excellent and extremely inexpensive. We had planned to cook a few nights, but ended up eating out every night. We couldn't wait to try all of the places. We ate at Medina Tacos, Bamboo, Angelos, a great Cuban place, and a Bistro on a corner of Hidalgo that cooked steaks and fish right outside on a grill. The drinks are two for one almost everywhere and are excellent. We especially enjoyed the Pina Coladas at the tiki bar behind Posada Del Mar. We went diving twice and went snorkeling at Garrafon Castillo,North Beach was not crowded and the water was beautiful. We rented chairs from Sunset Grill and stayed to watch the sunset. Best of all, the cost of our umbrellas and chairs ($30 for 2 umbrellas and 4 chairs) went toward the cost of our food and drinks. We ate lunch, had snacks, and 2 members of our group drank Sol beer all day. It only costs us about $40 - so our umbrellas and chairs were free!

One recommendation is to bring lots of $1 bills. We brought 100 ones and went through them pretty quickly. Cash is best. The beauty of not having a commercialized vacation spot made it worth having to pay cash often.

I would strongly recommend La Casa Luna Y Sol to anyone who is looking for a peaceful vacation in a tropical paradise. We cannot wait until we can go again! Make your reservations now!

Amazing week on the Isla!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, I was unsure if renting a home was a good alternative to an all inclusive resort. Well, it was by far 100% better than an all inclusive. Sure an all inclusive is all you can eat and drink, but is the food you are getting really authentic Mexican food? I highly doubt it.

OK, back to the house. The house is awesome, beautiful and a great place to put up your feet for a week and let the Caribbean sun melt your stress away. The pool makes for a very refreshing dip, and is very nice to have nestled near the terrace. It is very clean, beds are extremely comfortable, the WiFi worked great for Skype with our kids. Fully equipped kitchen minus a microwave. But come on, you are on vacation, that fridge is for Corona. Towels and bottled water are plentiful, as well as toilet paper.

Rent a golf cart, as we did, for around $350 a week, and you can cruise the island at your leisure. Playa Norte is so beautiful, blue water, white sand and great service from the beach side bars. 4 of us drank (Coronas and Pina Colada's) all day and had lunch at a great little place (Restaurant Bar Caribbean Queen) for $100.

I will say that I was a little worried about not being "protected" by the "resort" as we were on our own, but I actually felt very safe everywhere we went. One of the gals in our group went for a run every morning, and had no troubles what so ever. I will say that as a precaution, I would carry my wallet in my front pocket. But, as I said, I never felt I needed to, I would just hate to have it swiped being so far from home.

Working with Jugna was great. She was quick to respond to any questions I had, and made sure our stay was memorable. Drew the property manager came by the second day to show us where extra towels and water was. House keeping comes once a week to tidy up the house which is nice. All in all, is was a little more expensive than an all inclusive, but my wife and I have found our newest favorite place to vacation. Thank you Jugna for our best vacation to date! By the way, all the restaurants have AMAZING food!

Amazing Place to Stay- We will be back!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome stay at La Casa Luna Y Sol. We had 4 couples and had plently of room. The whole island is fun to explore, but it was nice to have our little piece of home away from home at this house. The house is quiet, has its own pool, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. What we really enjoyed about the house is it has plenty of privacy for each couple, but a great common area to enjoy each other's company. The house is centrally located, so getting anywhere is a breeze. I would highly recommend this place- We will be back!!!

Great house for small children

  • 5 of 5

This house was great for our young grandchildren; they spent hours in the pool. The placement of the bedrooms provided privacy for each family.

The owner provided lots of information about the island before we arrived, and the property manager was most helpful while we were there.

The kitchen is inadequate for preparing more than a simple meal, but the restaurants were inexpensive and the food delicious everywhere we went.

Taxis are cheap and abundant and we were able to get where we wanted to go easily. We spent part of every day at the beach.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Just to respond about the kitchen comment. We would agree that the kitchen does not have all of the amenities for preparing elaborate meals as the number and variety of pots and pans is limited but it is equipped with a full size fridge, convection oven, and a four burner gas stove so guests usually have no problems preparing simple meals as you mentioned. We usually make a big breakfast in such as eggs, potatoes, pancakes, toast, and fruit as well as afternoon snacks such as nachos and guacamole for pool side dining. The kitchen has enough plates, utensils, cups, bowls, etc. for groups of 8-10 so we hope that your group was able to enjoy some meals at the house. We are pleased to hear that you still had a great stay and that your group enjoyed all of the wonderful restaurants on the island. Thank you for leaving feedback for us!

Great Island and Great House!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Isla Mujeres. The first time we visited, we stayed at an all-inclusive, which was nice, but this island has such a cool personality that we wanted to try a house and see more of the island for our second trip. La Casa Luna Y Sol was a great choice - good location and plenty of space (our group consisted of two couples, so there were two spare bedrooms). Each of the 4 bedrooms has its own bathroom and there is ample living space. We didn't cook - but there were enough glasses and coffee cups for our various drinks! Very convenient location and a great view of the bay from the top level. Nice outdoor lounging options, and the pool area is great. Looking forward to coming back for more!

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband, myself and our 4 adult children had a wonderful time at La Casa Luna y Sol. The description of the house was accurate. The house was spotless when we arrived. The pool was lovely. The kitchen is equipped, but we really didn't cook any meals. The outside dining area was perfect for our family. A water cooler with large bottles of water is provided. More were kept in the garage if we ran out. There were ample towels with more in the garage if needed. Maid service was provided once during the week which was a welcome surprise. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioners worked well. The showers had plenty of hot water. The decks were magnificent. We truly enjoyed drinking tea from the top deck or the deck above the garage. A surprise that we missed from the description was the top bedroom. It is accessible from the master bedroom deck. It has its own deck and one above it. There was some discussion as to who got to sleep there!

You will find a large grocery store, a bar, and a beer distributor all within walking distance. The taco shop across from the grocery story is awesome! Two blocks down from the taco shop, just past the ball field is an incredible shop that sells grilled chicken, potatoes, and onions. For $20 we fed six hungry people with leftovers!

As the description states, taxis are readily available. For about $3 we were able to pile 4 people in a taxi and travel into town and the beach.

Jugna answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. She and the caretaker were very helpful. Our whole family agrees that La Casa Luna y Sol is a wonderful vacation spot that we would absolutely rent again and highly recommend.

Car: not necessary

Isla Mujeres is a small island, but there’s a lot to do here. The gorgeous white sand beaches on the island’s north and western sides are ideal for an afternoon of sun and relaxation. Rent a golf cart to take a tour of the island, and stop for snorkeling and lunch at Garrafon, the island’s southern tip. You can also take a boat trip with Isla’s fishermen and snorkel, fish, or visit the nearby bird sanctuary.

Playa Norte is Isla’s largest, longest and most popular beach. You can rent water toys, kayaks, snorkeling gear, chairs and umbrellas. There’s no better place to while away the afternoon at an open-air restaurant or in a shaded lounge chair. A variety of restaurants line the beach where you can enjoy fish caught moments ago, elegant Mayan-inspired cuisine, or a simple dish of beans and rice. Sunsets are particularly stunning from this point. You can even find wireless internet access at the Sunset Grill on Playa Norte.

Come and explore this gracious warm vacation home.
