This apartment complex is nicely maintained and the security guards are helpful; but the driveway has an extreme slope which is not convenient or an easy walk for even the average person. I was told one could get most anywhere by taxi for $5 each way. We were never able to go anywhere for less than $20. Rent a car or plan more $ for transportation.
“Luxury” and “Penthouse” are very misleading. Although you can stand on the deck, there is no room to sit. We arrived to find dishes in the cupboard still wet from an attempt at washing. Whatever we used to cook with had to be washed prior to use. The cupboards and countertops did not feel clean. The living room sofas are completely broken down.
One bed was not made up. Otherwise we might never have realized there were no mattress pads on either bed to protect them from the obvious stains we discovered. This is unacceptable, a terrible public health issue for a furnished rental. In one bathroom there is mold around the shower, and the glass shower door does not track well, leaving you with a feeling that at any time it could fall. The master bathroom’s shower drain had to be cleaned out by one of the renters so the water would drain.
It is my fault that I was unclear about what a deposit means. I thought it meant you got your deposit back when the place you rented was left in good or better condition than you found it. In Costa Rica (at this rental anyway) the 16% “bed tax” and other itemized deductions (vaguely noted) are taken from your deposit and not included in the nightly or weekly rate as it is in the US.
Hopefully the owner will investigate the concerns we found in his rental and address specifically the kitchen, bathrooms and health issues with respect to the beds. It could be a nice, modest place to stay. For what we got, it was way overpriced.
Owner's Response: the condo was very clean when the tenants arrived . they started complaining right away .they said the condo is equipped with a computer it is not ,it has wireless access for your laptop .the bed and mattress in the master bedroom cost over 4000 dollars,as you can see in the pictures.the sheets and pillow cases and linens are always cleaned upon arrival,but obviously they werent clean enough for these tenants. the condo is equipped with a washer and dryer
we even supplied these people with a laptop computer and free acess to long distance calls for free.
they still complained this condo unit is only 5 years old its very modern,everybody who stays here loves the place it right in san jose polacio right next too the best hotel in cr.we pay extra for security when we rent too tenants thats why we have a surcharge stated on the websight .
they wait on the tenants hand and foot ,these tenants who are complaining also broke the dimmer lights in the kitchen and bedroom at a cost of 450 dollars too have repaired . theyve been too costa rica before so they know the taxi rates its only 8 dollars too downtown sanjose ,its 20 dollars from the airport .there exagerating when they say 20 dollars too go anywere. even though the gas has gone up taxis are reasonable
the cleaning and surcharge is either included in the rent or paid out of the security deposit in their case they told me too take it out of their security deposit .the cleaning lady told me she had too remove numerous beer bottles from the condo .the condo was the model unit when we bought it and has panaramic views its very beautiful here ,we could not make these tenants happy they even left a little early and wanted a refund , so i was expecting this bad review because we wouldnt give them refunds they werent entilted too. the condo rents by the year for over 1800 a month ,thats an annual rate . the seasonal rate is higher and very fair the hotel polacio gets 150 per night for 2 people only .this condo can sleep 5 people and has 24 hour gated security .these people were older so we tried too make them happy sometime you cant no matter what you do .they also had friends stay right after them they acted the same way .the bathrooms are very modern with very expensive glass doors as stated in pictures. thankyu management
