Isla Mujeres:
Isla Mujeres was founded more that 400 years ago. It was a pirates nest, and its name was given because the Mayans went there to make offerings to Ixchel, the fertility goddess. For many years the island has been a peaceful and secluded fisherman 's village. Cancun is not far away, and the island holds it 's charm and laidback feeling of a real Mexican town.
Activities:
In the Magazine, Islands, issue of July 2005, Isla Mujeres was rated within the 5th best island to live in the world. The criteria to make this judgment was the accessibility (Cancun 's 15 minutes away), the enchanting atmosphere, the friendliness of the locals, the stunning beauty the place.
