Overview

Centerville Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms

This is a lovely, recently renovated three bedroom, two bath house one mile to Craigville Beach and a comfortable walk to Centerville town (just a quick stroll to Four Seas Ice Cream!) The house is the first floor of a two family house. Three bedrooms have two queens and two twins. Linens are available if needed.

The house has a large flat screen TV in the living room and air conditioning units in the living room and all three bedrooms. There is a spacious kitchen with a breakfast bar. Part of the backyard is a graveled area for parking but there is some grass at the back. There is a gas grill.

This is a very family friendly house.

For young children: We have equip the house with many things that will be helpful to parents of young children. In the basement, we have a Pack N Play, a high chair, seats that attach to the table, bouncy seat, Graco stroller, Play yard, infant tub and lots of toys. We ask that you make sure everything is clean and put back in its place.

For Pets: We have a mid size crate and several dog beds. There is also a gate.

About Maria Eftimiades

I am a writer and a single parent of two children, ages 6 and 17. We live in New York and come up to the Cape several times a year.

Maria Eftimiades purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Maria Eftimiades chose Centerville

I love Centerville. It is its own quiet town with a charming General store, a fabulous library with a wonderful children's section, the best ice cream shop on the Cape (Four Seas), a fantastic playground, a new mini mart, all within a few minute's walk from the house. Meanwhile, you are just a few miles to Hyannis, which has everything--movie theaters, shopping mall, ferries to the Vineyard and Nantucket. I also love our proximity to Osterville--there are great restaurants and shops there as well. And of course, it's just a half mile to Craigville Beach, which is a fabulous beach, and just perfect for families.

Charming Mid-Cape Location

  • 5 of 5

For our first trip to the Cape (2 parents, 3 kids ages 14-20), we were looking for a charming home in a central location; and we found it here. Centerville proved to be a good home base for a lot of activity -- from this location as our base, we enjoyed charter fishing out of Barnstable Harbor (15 minutes away), the ferry to Nantucket from Hyannis Harbor (10 minutes away), a night baseball game in the Cape Cod League (10 minutes away), dinner in Hyannis (10 minutes away) and West Yarmouth (20 minutes away), Four Seas ice cream just up the street at night, and 2 afternoons on Craigville Beach (1/2 mile away -- we walked the easy walk). We also found Centerville to be an easy commute to/from Provincetown (whale watching with Dolphin Fleet -- we got lucky and saw 35-40 whales at one site!) and biking on the Cape Cod Rail Trail (which begins in South Dennis about 30 minutes away). My daughter and I even found the drive to Providence, RI easy enough to take Amtrak into NYC for a show one night, returning the next day.

As for the house, the description and the photos do the house justice. This is a clean and comfortable home. The owners have a sense of space -- they have not overstuffed the living floor (first floor) with furniture; thus, there is a good "flow" in the first floor living area. The upstairs has 3 bedrooms, which were adequately sized for our family. We never had a backup awaiting the single indoor shower because a few members of the family actually preferred the chance to use the outdoor shower (not pictured on current photos). The outdoor shower is well-fenced, so privacy did not seem compromised. The landscaping for the home seems consistent with the surrounding area. We enjoyed the blooming hibiscus next to the driveway.

The home is located right next door to Long Dell Inn, a well-maintained and charming B&B; and it is just a very few steps from "downtown" Centerville (which is tiny).

We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to the Cape; and we think this home in Centerville can provide a good base for other visitors to enjoy many activities on the Cape.

Like being at home without the everyday hassles

  • 5 of 5

Have stayed at this property at different times of the year. Everything one needs is at your fingertips from books to read to beach toys for the children. Any questions are answered by Maria with cheerfulness. Always has great recommendations from restaurants to how to spend your day. I would have no qualms with recommending this property to anyone. It is a great place for family or friends to get reacquainted and remember the good old times and make new memories. The spaciouness of the house makes even a cloudy day become sunny. Its location in a quiet neighborhood makes it ideal for sleeping in the mornings and relaxing on the great deck while dinner is cooking on the grill. Already looking forward to my next visit.

Our new favorite place

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son and I stayed at this cottage this summer and found it to be a perfect place of respite during our Cape Cod vacation. First off, the house was very clean, which is a top priority for me. The house itself is very charming with many quaint architectural details and lots of natural light. We felt like we could really relax there after our road trip. Bonus, there were beach toys there that our son could play with! The cottage is a half-mile away from Craigsville beach, but it was a pretty walk -- something our 5-year-old (and my sedentary husband) could manage without a problem. I LOVED the cottage's outdoor shower, so we could wash the sand off outside instead of tracking it into the house. We walked most places, as we were within easy reach of many little shops. An amazing ice cream shop, the Four Seas, is just down the street. Some evenings we just preferred to stay "home" too, and cook in the fabulous kitchen. The cottage is big enough for a large group. I'm thinking of renting it next summer with my friends for a girl's getaway!

Cute place, great location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two dogs recently stayed here for a 3-day Cape Cod getaway, and we were very pleased with the place we chose to stay. The house was bright, colorful, sunny, homey, clean, and nicely maintained. We could feel the thought and consideration the owner put into preparing the place for visitors - simple touches like paper towels, lined trash bins in the bathrooms, visitor's guides and maps, a nice collection of books, etc. Centerville is a small, quiet town, and Craigville beach is a very calm, relaxed beach, with very little waves, which was great for us (the dogs, especially). We spent two night here, spent two days on Craigville beach, and on the third day we checked out and spend the entire day on Martha's Vineyard before heading back down to our home in NJ. Thank you for a wonderful mini-vacation!

Awesome location and easy access to all parts of Cape Cod

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in early August 2013. The location is very convenient to all major attractions being 'center' of cape cod. We had six people comfortably stay at this home. It is filled with all the things you need to make you feel you are at your own summer home. It is clean, just large enough and spacious. Perfect if you are a runner - about a mile away to the Craigsville Beach. The owner is very responsive, flexible, and caring.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review. Just want to clarify that the house is actually half a mile to Craigville beach (clocked it on my car!)

Great get-away

  • 5 of 5

This Cape Cod gem is exactly as described! Craigville beach is a short and easy walk - 4 seas ice cream (the best on the Cape) is just down the street. The home itself is very clean and well outfitted for a couple or a small family. The new deck and outdoor shower are fantastic! The owner is accommodating and reachable if there are any questions or problems. I was lucky enough to have great weather, but if its rainy there is still plenty to do. grocery stores, downtown Hyannis, and the Melody tent are just a short drive away. I hope to return to this home in the future! Thank you for a great stay!
