Scottsdale Vacation Rental townhome

We have been vacation renters in the North Scottsdale area for the past 9 yrs. Renting condos & homes at least once to sometimes three times a year. This was by far our worst rental experience. The amenities are not as described. The unit is dark as it does not receive much sunlight, the views from the unit are a myth and for us to access the unit we had to crawl under the gararge door which only opened a couple of feet. We rec'd several questions from a nieghbor of this unit about how we knew the owner and how long we were staying which made us feel uncomfortable, unsafe and whether renters were even allowed within this condo association / community. As a family with a young child, the main reason we chose to rent this unit over other less expensive units in the North Scottsdale area was we were assured by the owner that we would have access to the DC Camp Community Center. Upon our arrival we learned that the DC Camp Community Center was closed for two weeks due to resurfacing & cleaning of the pools which overlapped our stay. We also learned from the director of the DC Camp Community Center that the owners were notified "well in advance" of the closing. Unfortunately, the owner of this rental unit did not notify us allowing us to alter our travel plans. We immediately notified the owner upon our arrival of the closure. A partial refund was agreed upon and the owner did not live up to the agreement. We rec'd our security deposit check back 49 days after our stay and w/o explanation we were shorted an extra $100. North Scottsdale is a great area to vacation. We would highly recommend researching other condo units or homes in the North Scottsdale area where we have found the amenities (gated community, views, quality & functionality of the units) to meet / exceed your expectations and, most importantly, the unit owners to be trustworthy and honest.
