Overview

Franklin House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 3 Full Baths, Sleeps 6

Simply one of the most beautiful mountain homes in our area. You'll walk in and not only be in awe of the timber frame architecture, but the view will draw you immediately through the house to the back deck where you can't wait to relax with a beverage of choice. Three bedrooms, three baths, a gourmet kitchen, and attention to detail is evident. Two wood burning fireplaces, one inside and one outside (wood provided). The SCREENED PORCH with OUTDOOR FIREPLACE will be your favorite relaxation spot year-round. VIEWS OF 5 MOUNTAIN RANGES from almost every room.

Experience all Western North Carolina has to offer - great hiking, swimming holes, hike or drive to waterfalls, fishing, rafting/slow river floats, kayaking, gem mining, golf, restaurants & shopping, scenic drives, a photographers dream.

When Only the Best Will Do - Pamper Yourself A Little: No bare bones cabin here, all the comforts of home and more. This home is a great place to come and reconnect with friends & family. Not your usual vacation rental ... Rustic Elegant décor (owner is a decorator), comfy mattresses, beautiful linens and all the necessities.. Fully equipped gourmet kitchen with everything from waffle iron and popcorn popper to food processor and slow cooker. DirecTV, WI-Fi, blankets for snuggling by the fire, walking sticks. We are particular and the house reflects that.

Easy access (no scary single lane roads, paved to gravel drive). A retreat from life's stresses, a luxury you deserve. Escape, put your feet up, and relax. End a day full of activities by simply gazing at the mountains and enjoying each other.

Our home It isn't just accented by timber beams and called a timber frame, it is a true timber frame home. Our home won three architectural awards including BEST VACATION HOME. OUR GUESTS TELL US THEY NEVER WANT TO LEAVE and they come back year after year.

Our reviews speak volumes. We get calls all the time from people who've rented other properties and are disappointed when they arrive. Everyone who walks in tells us the home is more beautiful than the photos reflect. Look at our video on line and you'll see for yourself.

Share the expense: Bring another couple or two and it amounts to less than a nice hotel. Plan a family get together and share the costs. And, consider what you will save by being able to cook and eat in. Re-charge your Relaxation Skills.

Time for the Girls?: This house is a great GIRL FRIEND GETAWAY. Relax, read, hike, & lots of shopping! We can arrange Spa services, catering/picnic baskets, cooking lessons, hiking tours, & more.

About Pam Pringle, Owner

We built this award winning home in 2006.

Pam Pringle, Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why Pam Pringle, Owner chose Franklin

We fell in love with area, it's such a central location. Franklin is a quaint small town with friendly people. We have terrific restaurants nearby. You can visit surrounding areas such as Asheville, Bryson City, Cherokee, The Smoky Mountain National Park, Sylva, Dillsboro. Hiking to waterfalls and taking scenic drives with a picnic is a couple of our favorite things to do.

What makes this house unique

The views are incredible and our area is such a quiet and serene spot to escape from the stresses and hectic schedule of city life. We travel ourselves and do our best to provide our guests with all the comforts of home. We've even thought of hiking sticks, coolers, picnic baskets and our activity books will keep you busy and coming back time and time again. So much to do, or do nothing!

Guestbook comments from the owner

If I were say what I felt about the Pond House I would just be repeating the previous comments.

Excellent Rental

  • 5 of 5

The Pond is an excellent rental home with everything you can possibly need at your disposal. Beautiful scenery, beautiful surroundings, and a beautiful home make it the perfect getaway. Nicely decorated with all the amenities you will need and offers complete privacy. Close proximity to Highlands and lots of hiking possibilities. We rented bikes at a local shop and enjoyed their beautiful park in their quaint town! Perfect for a quiet and relaxing escape!

There is NO PLACE as wonderful as this home!

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we've stayed at this rental. It is in a word, PERFECT. The owners have thought of everything you might need or want to use during your stay. The house is beyond picture perfect, with gorgeous furniture and decor. The setting is private and OH SO relaxing-with the sounds of a stream, birds calling and yes, even wild turkeys and deer around. The home has a breath-taking view of the valley to boot with rocking chairs just waiting for you! We'll be back again and again! Thank you for opening up your home to us.

Owner's Response: It's guests like you that make sharing our homes a pleasure. I try hard to make sure it's a special stay whether it is your first stay or a return visit. And, reviews matter, while I can describe all the wonderful things we love about our home, it's the reviews that other travelers rely on. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We look forward to your next visit!

HIghly Recommend, I didn't want to leave

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to Franklin. We came in July of 2014 and stayed at the owners' other house The Cottage and brought the family. So this time, just being my husband and I, we decided to stay at the Pond House. Our visit was in winter, we wanted to come and enjoy a little snow and really enjoy the fireplaces. Pam's décorating is so welcoming and comfortable, not the usual cabin country stuff you see, but as she describes, an "upscale rustic". I loved to wander and look at the local photography/artwork, all the little details and accessories she has out. As soon as you walk in you see the view and it is mesmerizing. Certain times of the day the clouds are about mid-way on the mountains and it is beautiful, so blue. You look across a small pasture and pond area up to the mountain views. You see no other houses, it's quiet and you can hear all the birds. There are wild turkey who come visit every day. At night we stood out on the deck and the stars are so bright without any other city lights we're accustomed to. We didn't do too much except antique and downtown Franklin shopping this visit. It was really a trip to get away just the two of us, relax, rest and read. The kitchen is large and well stocked, we stayed in and cooked (made chili in the crockpot, baked cookies). I didn't want to leave. I want to live here! I highly recommend this home, especially for couples.

Owner's Response: Phyllis, thank you so much for another great review. The Pond House is a wonderful spot for chillin' out and spending quality time away from life's stresses. So many couples visit to celebrate that special birthday or anniversary, we're happy you chose the Pond House. We look forward to your return (along with your two friend couples) later this year. I know you are excited to go hiking quite a bit this next visit after reading all about them at the house. Our waterfalls await!

Outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely fell in love with this house. There was nothing we needed or wanted. Pam has thought of everything. The whole style of the house is warm and comfortable, and the timber frame is incredible how it's built. The decorating was wonderful and we enjoyed all the local photography and artwork displayed. We snuggled by the fireplaces, the outdoor one is great, Pam provides faux fur throws that are just a terrific. And, they provide plenty of firewood.

The views from the house change constantly and keep you sort of transfixed and you hate to leave. When we did venture out, we enjoyed the drive to Highlands and in winter you can see the waterfalls so much easier right from the road. Downtown Franklin is so quaint, many restaurants to choose from and Pam provided their favorite things to do and restaurants before arrival. There are several activity books (can't imagine how long it took Pam to put those together) and restaurant menus, etc. We can't wait for our next visit and have already booked it.

Owner's Response: Thanks Nicole, we are so happy you and Jack had a great time. I know you were exhausted after entertaining so much family for the holidays and I knew the Pond House would be just what the Doctor ordered. Something about those mountain views that melt stress away. Pj's, a glass of wine in front of the fireplace and no worries, life is good. I look forward to your visit this summer.

The Very Best Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and set in a very private and quiet area. Not too far away from a great small town for shopping and dining. We didn't need to bring a thing, everything was provided for the perfect stay. This was a warm and comfortable home with both indoor and outdoor fireplaces we especially enjoyed. The home is very well maintained and clean. We will definitely be back many times.
