Daughter of homeowner, rental manager, high school science teacher, eager to let people enjoy the Hawaiian unique beauty and restorative lifestyle of our home
The Owner purchased this house in 1990
Parents built vacation rental in this location due to wonderful all around the year weather, not like Florida or Carribbean where some seasons are iffy, Hawaii offers cool gentle breezes and beautiful sunny days all year round! Mauna Kea resort offers decades of historic Hawaiian indulgences, all updated for today's traveller.
Unique to our home is the developed plantings, maintained by our full-time caretaker which offer the visitor abundance of privacy and quiet, wonderful views of the golf course and the ocean and the mountains. See the snow-capped peaks and whale-watch at the same time. Large groups are wonderfully accomodated in the many living spaces our home provides.
Juliet, our family had a wonderful time here on the Big Island and enjoyed your lovely villa!! It's 4pm on Tuesday, 3/30 and all of our children and grandchildren have left for home. Only Sandie and I are here and we want to say that this vacation home was perfect. Please feel free to use me as a reference should the need arise.
I called the caretaker today and left a message suggesting that if they wanted to clean the other bedrooms today or tomorrow morning, it would be ok with us.
Everything is in order and there were no accidents.
Your internet service works great -- I'm in the lanai area now.
One question-- is that your mother with you and your sister? Which one is you -- reclining or standing?

We just returned from paradise. Extended family stayed at large home that was more than we expected. The caretaker was so helpful, led us to a great fishing spot for our 7 year old son. We will heartily recommend this to any large groups. Yoga at the Hapuna was another highlight of our visit. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and grand. Too bad we had to come home!
This is a perfect vacation home for a large family. We were there with 4 grandchildren and 6 adults. The home itself is spectacular architecturally. There is a large open atrim adjacent to a large spacious pool and hot tub on the main floor, with wonderful views across the Mauna Kea Resort golf course and out to the ocean. All of the bedrooms are large and spacious with adjacent bathrooms. There are several eating areas and a large barbecue which we used to make dinner. And all of the services of the Mauna Kea resort are available. All of us had a great time and are eager to return. In addition, the home manager Lynda was always available and did all she could to make our stay enjoyable.
There were 12 of us for a family celebration and what we really liked about the place was the amount of space. Each of the 6 bedrooms was truly a private retreat and the magnificent central lanai with pool and jacuzi was the perfect place to all hang out together. The weather was not so good for our week and the young kids would have gone bonkers if we were in a hotel, but they were perfectly happy just playing around the house and garden. The media room helped too.
Caretaker Lynda was a big help, very welcoming and eager to make our stay a success. Maura Kea beach and charge privileges give the best of both worlds (hotel/residence). We recommend this rental.
What a fabulous location for a reunion! All adventure points, awesome dining, best beaches and more are within easy reach. The estate is so lovely-spacious, open to the ocean view and included everything one could possibly need. The tropical fruit was falling off the trees, which made for amazingly fresh fruit smoothies! I will plan to return again and again!
We had a fabulous family reunion week at this home. A spacious house with plenty of room for everyone to gather together, as well as having areas for privacy. A beautiful setting on a wonderful resort. A car is a must, though you can do some nice walks from the property. Fabulous beach and tennis club.
Not all bedrooms and bathrooms are equal so you must allocate them carefully. Plenty of seating, glassware, crockery and cutlery for large groups. Tiled floors and stairs so we would not recommend for very young nor very old. We struggled a bit with the lighting and some controls. There are many switches throughout the house and not all are labeled.
The caretaker was helpful and worked hard to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We had an issue with some of the beds and the setup when we arrived but it was resolved shortly thereafter. She made herself available and was quick to follow up with any issues.
The house is one of the older ones in the resort, however, it is of a unique design and décor and should be appreciated as such.
True outdoor living. A memorable time for us all.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. From the moment we arrived, we felt comfortable and relaxed. The location is beautiful, with easy access to the beach and nearby hikes. The sunset views are spectacular. (And, yes, I saw the green flash!) The home provided all the comforts we needed and more. The pool was quite refreshing after a long walk on a hot day. The bedrooms are spacious, private and quite comfortable. The caretaker was extremely helpful and prompt in answering questions and suggesting nearby amenities and sights.
I wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend this vacation home.
