La Maison Des Vignes (The House of Vines) sits in the heart of the lovely village of Tourouzelle, in the sunny Languedoc Roussillon area of the South of France, within a short drive are the beaches of the Mediterranean, Carcassonne and Montpellier.

Situated in the Minervois and bordering the Corbiere wine regions, this former vigneron estate dates back to the 1600’s and is built in the traditional stone typical of the region.

The architect-designed, newly renovated barn conversions have created 3 spacious gites which have all the character of the old stone walls, high ceilings and original wooden beams, combined with all the comforts and ‘mod cons’ that will make your stay here all the more pleasurable. There is also a heated pool in the landscaped, walled gardens.

Whether you wish to soak up the sunshine by the pool or the beach, enjoy the fabulous food and wine of the area, play golf, cycle or walk, you are sure to discover your ‘joie de vivre’ at La Maison Des Vignes.

Body Zone at La Maison Des Vignes: We are also pleased to offer our guests on site beauty treatments. There are a range of treatments available including hot stone therapy, massages, reflexology, facials, manicures and pedicures all at a very reasonable price. Golf: Outside of the hot summer months of July & August, the weather is ideal for a round of golf. Within easy access of Tourouzelle are several golf courses that golfers of all levels will find rewarding. From the beautiful setting of Mazamet golf course in the Black Mountains to the course at Carcassonne with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.

Walking and Cycling: Enjoy walking amongst the spectacular scenery of the vineyards, the Black Mountains or for the more adventurous the Pyrenees are a short distance away. Many local villages, including Tourouzelle have marked walks that cover different types of terrain and are suitable for walkers of all different levels.

The immediate area around Tourouzelle offers endless possibilities for anything from a short ride up to full days mountain-biking or road cycling. Cycle routes will take you through the vineyards of the Minervois and Corbieres wine region and for the keen cyclist you can follow in the cycle tracks of the previous years Tour de France.

Access is via secluded gardens & to the front of the gite is a large terrace that is set up for outdoor dining & has a sturdy table & chairs & gas BBQ. From the terrace you enter the spacious (41m²) lounge, dining & kitchen area which has wooden floors, high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams & original exposed stone wall. There is a comfortable sofa & seating area, TV, DVD & CD players & an indoor dining area. Bedroom 1 has a comfortable king-size bed, table d'appoint & wardrobe, french windows lead onto the terrace. The en-suite bathroom has a powerful shower, WC & basin. Bedroom 2 has a king-size bed (the room can be made up with 2 single beds), chest of drawers & wardrobe. The adjacent bathroom has a jacuzzi bath, powerful shower, WC and basin. Bedroom 3 is in a separate courtyard annex and has a king-size bed (the room can be made up with 2 single beds), chest of drawers & wardrobe. The en-suite bathroom has a powerful shower, WC and basin.

La Maison Des Vignes is located in the centre of Tourouzelle, a characteristic French village and opposite the front gate you will find the village shop and the post office.

Wine production is the main activity within the village and you can walk to the village’s three different wine domaines.

The wide sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are only 40 min drive and if you fancy a change from the beach, then head towards Lac de Jouarres only a 5 min drive from La Maison Des Vignes, or if you prefer you could cycle there instead.

For those who prefer to be on the water rather than in it, the historic Canal du Midi is less than 3 km from La Maison Des Vignes.

As well as the many Cathar and Medieval castles in the area, there are also many Abbeys to explore.

The Cities of Carcassonne (the setting for the new Labyrinth film), Narbonne, Beziers and Montpellier are within a short drive

Notes

  • Please note the above prices are for renting Gite Olivier as a two bedroom unit, for prices as a three bedroom unit the rates are the same as Gite Lavande plus a €140 supplement. During July & August Gite Olivier can only be rented as a three bedroom unit.
    Prices are for 7 nights starting on Saturday (4pm) and finishing the following Saturday (10am).
    Inclusive of electricity, cleaning, linen, bathrobes and towels (including pool towels).
    Bikes and golf clubs are available for guest use at no extra charge.
  • A deposit of 25% of the rental is required when booking. The balance of the rental is due 8 weeks prior to arrival.
    In the event of cancellation of a booking within 8 weeks of arrival, the full cost of the reserved accommodation will be charged and will be refunded only in the event that all cancelled accommodation is re-let.

Great time had by all!

This was the second time we'd been to La Maison des Vignes, but the first time we'd stayed in Gite Olivier.

We had two children under 1 with us and so it was perfect - nice and secluded with a gate to the swimming pool and all on one level so we didn't need to worry about stairs.

Jonathan and Suzanna made us feel very much at home and even suggested a local firm that we could hire bikes from which was a great way to explore the local area.

We'll definitely be back for a third visit!

Perfect for family Holiday

La Mason des Vignes was perfect for an autumn break in the sun with 2 small kids, we rented Olivier which allowed another couple to come and stay with a separate bedroom and bathroom away from the noise of our girls. teh Pool was perfect, Jonathan and Suzanne were super hosts. Gitte was clean ans very well equipped. you do need a car to get to places of interest.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Home from home, dishwasher etc! After, I think seven years a little TLC on the bathrooms, furniture etc wouldn't be out of order,and indoor lighting could be improved. Being in the village was great in a wonderful location enabling us to enjoy sightseeing and vineyards as well as unspoilt beaches. The ability to pop out for fresh bread at the alimentation on the doorstep was very welcome. The owners, Jonathan and Susanna, are generous and helpful, so a really relaxed feel. We have booked for next year as the visit was a great success, despite the acess which make it difficult for the less able bodied. Pool well maintained an good to use.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing
Owner's Response: Many thanks for the review and we always appreciate comments and recomendations from our guests and we will improve the indoor lighting ready for next year. Over the winter all our gites are maintained and last year all gites were re-painted to keep them looking fresh and neat. This winter we will make an extra effort to make sure that the bathrooms look like new again and furniture will be replaced where necessary.

We look forward to welcoming you back next year and sharing a glass of wine with you again.

Have just returned from a lovely 2 weeks here. The property was beautiful , comfortable and well maintained with attention to detail.
The pool was in the most perfect setting and very peaceful.
Jonathan and Suzanne were excellent hosts and the welcome nights very pleasant .
The gite was very rural and you definately need to be prepared to do some driving if you wish to sight see.
Would recommend this property to friends.
