My grandfather purchased this building in 1930 using it as his furniture store. My father developed the building into 20 offices and 16 condos selling off several while keeping this penthouse unit for himself.
Josh Russell purchased this condo in 1990
We had a great time in Philadelphia and the flat was in a perfect position for all the historic sights. Plenty of great restaurants and bars on the doorstep but not noisy at night in the apartment. The facilities in the apartment were great and it was really easy to check in and check out.
Great location to sightseeing! Quiet area and beds are comfortable...slept good! Well stocked kitchen. Owners were so prompt in getting back to us. Book this place if you want to be close to downtown, you won't be disappointed!
I spent four nights at Chestnut Lofts with three other PhD students for a conference at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The apartment was really cute and spacious, and it was easy to get to the Convention Center by walking, cab, or metro. Tons to see and great places to eat around the apartment - great, central location. I highly, highly recommend for your stay in Philadelphia.
I spent 5 nights here in March 2014. The apartment is really lovely, with wooden beamed ceilings and wooden floors, and very well-kept. The furniture was in good condition and the amenities were very high end- the owners left behind shampoo/conditioner, etc. and really nice, new quality towels and sheets (hotel quality.) The location is very convenient to many restaurants and tourist attractions. There does seem to be a few bars in the area, so it was a bit noisy at night on Friday and Saturday, but nothing terrible (my 1 year old was able to sleep through it.) The owners were extremely helpful and accomodating- they let me check out late because no one was checking in the next day which was key for traveling with a child. Overall, I loved the stay and would absolutely stay again.
Never having been to Philadelphia and knowing almost nothing of the area we were kind of flying blind. Our purpose was to combine a Christmas break vacation with a little educational experience with our 15 year old granddaughter. We could not have chosen better. The loft suited our needs perfectly and was within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Plenty of good restaurants, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin museum....and a block from some of the best fireworks we could have wished for. Access was quick and easy in a secure building. Try it, you'll like it.
We rented the apartment for our Christmas vacation this year for 9 nights. We really liked it and as an added bonus we were able to bring our dog with us. The apartment was very cute, clean and fully stocked with whatever we might need (cleaning supplies, utensils, pots/pans, plates, bedding, towels, etc). We really liked the brick and exposed beams. Also, the location was great. We would definitely stay here again.
