This enchanting self-catering cottage occupies an elevated position with views over the Loire 100 m away. Approached through automatic gates there is spacious parking to the rear. A small cliff behind with woods above (accessible) provide a totally secluded patio area with tables, chairs, parasol and gas BBQ. The cottage has been fitted out to a very high standard as a second home with new kitchen with full cooker & dishwasher, luxury tiled bathroom with shower over bath, separate WC, spacious living room with open fireplace, dining room, twin bedroom. Upstairs 2 double bedrooms, one with mezzanine over with miniature staircase to sleep a child, the other with luxury en-suite shower room & WC. The large landing provides a second living area with 2 sofas one of which converts to sleep 2. The downstairs facilities make it suitable for disabled or wheelchair users. Wireless Internet Access available as an option. Just 12 Km from Saumur - ideal for exploring the Chateaux of the Loire.

The house is 15mins from Saumur on the banks of the Loire in an area designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is close to a bridge over the Loire giving easy access to villages both sides with excellent restaurants bars and shops. Ideally placed for exploring the Loire Chateaux there are numerous local attractions including visits to the producers of the famous Saumur and Loire sparkling wines, museums, abbeys, zoo, golf, canoeing. Hot air balloon rides are available from a company just 2 miles away. It is very easy to access being just 15mins from the motorway network and only 5 1/2 hrs from Calais. The Loire is the first region going South to enjoy a major improvement in the climate - hence the huge wine production of the region. Tours is about an hour to the east and Angers about 1/2 hr west putting Saumur in the heart of the Chateau country.

Notes: Ground floor facilities make L'Ombriere accessible to the infirm. It has a small step but is accessible to a wheelchair user with assistance. Ground floor WC is not wide enough to be accessible in a wheelchair. The house is baby friendly being equipped with a cot and highchair An out-house has been equipped as a games room with table-tennis, darts and football game. It has the considerable benefit of being out of earshot of the house! There is also a boules set and a pair of badminton rackets and shuttles with a good playing area at the back of the house. and there are various board games cards etc in the house. A TV/DVD player is in the house for DVDs only. Wireless Internet Access is available (up to 512kbit/s downstream) for a modest fee - simply bring your WiFi-enabled computer or other device.

Lovely house in a fantastic area. Lots to do for adults and kids, but to be honest it's also great just to hang out in the garden, have a BBQ and drink some local wine! The surrounding countryside is just beautiful - and some good restaurants too! Very relaxing and highly recommended. Thanks!

Easy-book and pay. Great directions / instructions. Property is modern, clean, tidy, exactly as description and cannot be faulted. Sleepy French village. Plenty of culture in easy driving distance. Great food / wine in locality. Chateaux / gardens / river / countryside / activities all to hand. Very good value. Perfect for balloonists, too.

The L'Ombriere is great

We enjoyed our visit at L'Ombriere. The house is excellent, exactly as presented, and the location allows for nice drives along the Loire and to neighbouring towns. We were two couples and we were spoiled with all the room. Thank you for a great two weeks. Evan, Canada
