Disappointed, but Tanned

Being world travelers, used to all kinds of accommodations, we were disappointed with this condo. The site pictures show more than what is in the condo. There are no bureau of drawers so we could unpack our suitcases for the week, no bedside tables or lamps to read in bed at night. We moved the couches under the two ceiling lights in the living room to be able to read at night and the loft area has a wall light on the opposite side of the room so no reading at night up there. There is no dishwasher. The lights on the patio were burned out, but we were able to see to grill using the tiny pocket flashlight we had with us (lights replaced midweek). The site mentions five things that are not in the condo (misadvertising) which we called the owner on. He has not changed the site. The Master bed is listed as queen, but it is a full on a queen frame. The gate opener was defective, as was the replacement causing us to rely on the guard each time to get in the complex. DVD player dead. Be sure to shop on the way to Loiza because you are responsible for your toilet paper, trash bags, paper towels and laundry detergent which shocked us never having encountered this before in the 30 years we've been travelling. The condo was clean and the view gorgeous, up on the third floor (a trek for bad knees). The water pressure with two people showering was a challenge as was the 4-5 inches of standing water as we showered in the front bath.
After a stressed year we were looking to be able to really relax by the pool and read, read, read. Although this is not owner's fault, all the chaise lounges by the pool only layed flat (notches at back to sit up all broken). Owner gave good directions, but was not timely in repairs or responding to our phone call.
The traffic is a bear along the ocean; take the highway. It took us 2 hours, 15 minutes to get into San Juan on Good Friday along the ocean. The rain forest was beautiful. Trash maintenance has not hit the island yet - it is everywhere (even in the water) and detracts from the beauty of the beaches on the north and east side. Snorkeling was disappointing right off the shore, so take a paid excursion which is worth the cost (or as the tour books suggest, the south shore). We ate our meals in, but there are many roadside restaurants if you are adventurous.
We don't recommend this condo to anyone unless you can handle the sparseness of accommodations, and will not return to Puerto Rico except as an airport stopover.
Owner's Response: Future traveler, as you may read the previous review let me tell you that I like to recieve constructive critisism and I encorage you to let me know if your stay at my unit is not meeting your expectations. Having said that, I also have to mention that I do not like misleading information and false implications from this review. Let me say the following before you make your judgment:
1. No bureau of drawers. As you see the advertising of the condo there is no promise fro a bureau of drawers. What you will find is that every room has its own closet and the main bedroom has a walking closet. All of them come with hangers and plenty of space for your bags.
2. No ligths to read. All rooms have cealing ligths and nigth lamps. Main bedroom has 4 different ligths to read and to not bother your bedmate.
3. No dishwasher. As you see the advertising of the condo there is no promise for dishwasher.
4. Gate Opener not working. Both remote controls were working before this guest received them. After he returne they do not work. I had to replace the gate opener.
5. DVD Player defective. It was working before the guest arrive to the unit. It was none functional after they check out. I had to replace for a new DVD/Home Theather/5 Disc Panasonic equipment.
6. Toilet paper/Trash bags/Paper towels. You will receive the unit as sames as this guest receive it with 2 toilet papers by bathroom, 1 towel paper in the kitchen and 1 trash bag. I never promised to have a full stay suplly of paper products.
7. Shower. Before the guest arrived the water was flowing normally. After they checked out I had to fix the standing water problem with Drano.
8. Bed sizes. I hade to replace the bed from Queen to Double. You can see it in the description of the bed sizes.
9. Ligths in the patio burned. After the guest checked out the patio bulbs were changed. They working before the guest arrived.
The other thing I have to mention is that we spoke with the guest 4 times during his stay and before his arrival I exchange several e-mails with his party in order to give them guidance about the unit and their surroundings.
If you have doubts about staying at my unit you can read the other reviews which will give you an objective and transparent opinion about staying at my unit.
