My husband and I grew up near the mountains in Pennsylvania and spent our childhoods hiking, fishing, and camping. When we vacationed in Gateway Mountain we loved the natural surroundings and breathtaking views that were all around us. We decided to purchase this vacation home so that we could revisit the beauty and tranquility of the mountains whenever possible without the hassle of hotels or condominiums.
Sharon purchased this cabin in 2008
Gateway Mountain is our quiet, relaxing home away from home. The developers kept the natural beauty of the mountains while providing Gateway residents and visitors with the security of a gated community. Our home is within a short drive to beautiful Asheville, NC which provides plenty of year round activities for everyone in our family.
Gateway Mountain has many areas to hike, fish, swim, nature watch, and explore. It is also conveniently located so that in a short drive you can get to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Park, Asheville, Black Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Linville Caverns, Granfather Mountain, Little Switzerland, Catawba Falls, and other areas which offer a variety of year round activities.
We thoroughly enjoyed this home. The space has wonderful views and a wrap around porch that lent to enjoying the outdoors all through the day. Once we got there we never left until it was time to pack up and go home. The kitchen is well stocked with nearly everything you need to cook or bake with. Only drawback was the lack of a blender...boy how I wanted some frozen margaritas. Next time I just know to bring that. Everything else was superb. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home.
Cabin and surrounding area was as described. Nice and quiet place. We spent 2 days exploring the 3,000 acre "subdivision" that the cabin is located in. We were at the lakes and waterfall almost every day and only saw another person once. If you have a 4x4 there are some great roads to drive onsite. If you want to travel to Asheville every day it is a little far, but Old Fort and Black Mountain aren't a bad drive.
We loved the aesthetic of this mountain side home. The views were lovely and we really enjoyed the wrap around porch and hot tub. It was a perfect place for our girls getaway! The only downside of this property were the thin walls. We would definitely recommended this house to others!
The house is beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing. This is a great get-away if you truly want to escape. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, oven, microwave, coffeemaker... you could bring food and have a "staycation" with gorgeous views. The two bedrooms are roomy and each have a full bath. We were very satisfied. We spent the day in Black Mountain. Beautiful shops, delicious food, and highly recommended.
This is a beautiful home with a wrap around porch. When you go through the gate the roads can be a tad bit steep and slightly narrow but totally worth it. I went with my fiancé and two good friends and we had a blast. The waterfall is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend this house!
We loved our time here! The cabin itself was beautiful, the views of the mountain from all angles was incredible, and it had pretty much everything you would need in terms of linens, kitchen supplies, etc. It's a great place to unplug from the world and get away. Downtown Asheville is only about an hour away and there are plenty of beautiful hikes within 40 minutes (highly recommend Graybeard Mountain if you're outdoorsy). I'm keeping this place in mind for future trips.
