My husband and I grew up near the mountains in Pennsylvania and spent our childhoods hiking, fishing, and camping. When we vacationed in Gateway Mountain we loved the natural surroundings and breathtaking views that were all around us. We decided to purchase this vacation home so that we could revisit the beauty and tranquility of the mountains whenever possible without the hassle of hotels or condominiums.

Sharon purchased this cabin in 2008

Gateway Mountain is our quiet, relaxing home away from home. The developers kept the natural beauty of the mountains while providing Gateway residents and visitors with the security of a gated community. Our home is within a short drive to beautiful Asheville, NC which provides plenty of year round activities for everyone in our family.

Gateway Mountain has many areas to hike, fish, swim, nature watch, and explore. It is also conveniently located so that in a short drive you can get to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock Park, Asheville, Black Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Linville Caverns, Granfather Mountain, Little Switzerland, Catawba Falls, and other areas which offer a variety of year round activities.

PARADISE

  • 4 of 5
This is the first time my husband and I have been to the mountains of North Carolina and I must say we had such a wonderful time, it was hard to leave. The cabin was everything it was advertised to be with only one small disappointment. We couldn't enjoy the porch as much as we would have liked because of the large population of very big bumble bees. That certainly won't stop us from going back to what we consider paradise.

QUIET GETAWAY

  • 4 of 5
Our stay was very enjoyable. The cabin was absolutely beautiful, clean and we loved the wrap around porch. The cabin is very secluded and it was very quiet. We almost felt like we were they only ones on the mountain. As far as enjoying the nature and outdoors this is a great spot. There is not a lot to do around this area unless you drive to another town. We spent time fishing in the ponds & lake and enjoying quiet time at the cabin and in the jacuzzi. The only negative thing I would say is the roads are difficult to navigate and we could barely get up the driveway each time we came back to the cabin.

LOVELY GETAWAY IN THE MOUNTAINS

  • 5 of 5
We spent Thanksgiving there with another couple and it could not have been better. We enjoyed the hot tub and the beautiful views. The road getting there was not nearly as bad as some of the reviews led us to expect. The driveway to the cabin is the only part that was a little rough. We ended up getting there after dark with no problem. The roads in the development have good street signs. My only caution is to bring your own utensils if you plan to do very much cooking. But the furnishings are very nice and the place is so comfortable. The fireplace in the living room really warmed up the space and the windows let in lots of light. We could not get cell service or internet but that was truly a blessing. We plan to go back.

AMAZING, BEAUTFIFUL, AND QUIET!

  • 5 of 5
My girlfriend and I were looking for a good getaway as she was flying in from England to see me. After going to the Boon area it was time to try to the Asheville area and see what it had to offer. After finding this cabin online, which is about 35 mins outside of Asheville and in a gated community, we thought this would be a perfect place to stay...it couldn't have been more perfect!

The cabin is exactly what is described plus more!! It's an absolutely gorgeous property and we were just so impressed with the condition it was in. Loving to cook, I was especially drawn to the kitchen which had everything we needed including lots of space. Being in a area with privacy made us feel like we could really spend time together. Some people have complained about the internet. Being in a place with no cell service or internet was a little bit of a worry for me at first. After being there, not being able to be disturbed by anyone, and not having distractions such as our phones, this was just another addition that made the stay perfect. The hot tub was amazing, especially when the sun was going down at night and you could just relax and take in the sounds around you.

In addition to the cabin, the neighborhood was amazing and the fact that it has both a lake and a waterfall all contained within a private neighborhood made it the perfect and safe place.

We had no problems at all during our stay. The owners were very quick in responding and were very helpful with advice and direction. If you looking for a getaway you wont regret, you have to try this cabin as you wont be disappointed!!

EXCEPTIONAL CABIN!!!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent our anniversary in this wonderful cabin and were really impressed!!! It is a beautiful cabin that is very secluded and private!!! The furnishings were so very comfortable, updated, and fashionable. I fell in love with the mattresses in the bedrooms and even emailed the owner in search of the make and model. A good mattress is a rare find in a rental home, but this was one of the best I've every slept on!!! The hot tub was so relaxing after long days of shopping and walking! Our security deposit was returned very quickly, which surprised me!! Communication with the owner was also great. She emailed the day before our visit to let us know of some road closing due to road work being done and even sent new directions since one roadway would be closed. My husband and I have put this cabin on our "KEEPER" list!!! We will be back!!

NOT A PLACE FOR A HONEYMOON!

  • 1 of 5
My wife and I were very disappointed with our stay. We came for our honeymoon only to have several issues. One issue is the driveway can be at times difficult to get up even in a front wheel drive vehicle especially if it has been raining. Also when we got to the cabin there was a note that the showers were broke and they would be fixed by the plumber the next day. This was our honeymoon we really didn't want people to show up randomly at our cabin. I called the owner and then he sent the housekeeper and her husband out the that night to fix the showers. They were only able to fix one of the two showers in the cabin. I like to grill and the grill they have is about to fall apart and you have to turn the gas on and then light it with a hand held lighter. Also the power went out for several hours twice on our honeymoon. This was definitely not the honeymoon my wife and I expected and we even requested compensation back for the issues that occurred but we have received no contact back from the owners. I emailed them twice since getting back and they have yet to respond to either message. I would be wary of using this cabin. The pictures look nice and it is a nice cabin but that was about it. It was not worth the stress we had.
