I grew up in the SF Bay area and attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. While attending Cal Poly, we decided to raise our family here rather than move back to the big city.
We absolutely fell in love with the Paso Robles area and love sharing the Paso Robles community and the surrounding wine country with our guests.
Doug purchased this apartment in 1998
While Paso Robles has grown over the years, it still retains its small town atmosphere, where people are friendly and inviting. An evening stroll though downtown will convince you that you have found a second home and will make you wanting to return again and again.
We are located two blocks from the city park which is in the center of downtown. This puts you within easy walking distance to many very good restaurants and wine tasting rooms. Our central location is within an easy (20+/- minute) driving distance to the eastside and westside wineries within the Paso Robles Appellation.
What a fantastic wedding weekend!! We stayed here for our wedding weekend and had an awesome time. Everyone who came to visit us here loved it and WE loved it most of all. Upstairs on Vine is beautiful! All details perfect! We especially enjoyed sitting out on the balcony for coffee in the mornings. We can't wait to come back to celebrate our anniversary.
This condo is delightful! The beds are very comfortable, which is not always the case in a rental. The kitchen had everything we needed and extras like pre-ground coffee, sugar and spices. The place is as pretty as it shows in the photos. We recommend it for folks wanting to taste the great wines and food of Paso. It is an easy walk into the "downtown" area so you can imbibe without worrying about a DUI.
This is our second stay at Upstairs on Vine and it was as fantastic as the last stay! We love that it is walking distance to downtown. Route 101 and 46 are easily to get to from the house. If you are looking for a great and affordable place to stay this would be it!
Great unit. Large main living area. My wife and I rented it and had tons of room. Only a couple blocks from the downtown square in PASO. Had everything we needed. Definitely will stay here again next time.
We arrived mid-afternoon and the place was immaculate. Both Doug and Sonya greeted us and could not have been more warm and welcoming. Just one quick look around and we could see that the website pictures did not do the place justice. The facility was beautiful, the location fabulous, and the neighborhood was friendly. It was an easy walk to fine dining and the city park. We can't wait to return.
This unit is in excellent condition and they have not skimped on things. Everything was in fine working order and clean. The location is good and the couple in the front room (facing Vine) had no complaints about street noise.
It has utensils, cookware, and knives as well as a medium sized gas grill on the deck which works fine.
It's hard to find a single thing to complain about. The master bedroom door jam and hinges were a bit loud?
With the cleaning fee it probably becomes a bit more expensive than some other nearby options, but this unit is also probably a cut above most of the others. I recommend it and plan to return.
Upstairs on Vine is our new favorite place to stay in Paso Robles. Here is how it went - two wine snob couples descend upon Paso for a weekend of tasting, dining, fun, and more tasting. This location of this beautifully decorated, very well-appointed two bed/two bath place could not have been more perfect. And, working with Sonya was absolutely delightful as she made our arrival and stay so easy. We will be back!!!
Paso Robles has over 200 wineries!!........Our property is a short drive to most area wineries and within walking distance to downtown wine tasting rooms.........Hearst Castle and Pacific Ocean Beaches are a short 45 minute drive.........Take a scenic drive up the coastline or through the wine country.......Paso Robles has many antique shops and art studios, most are within easy walking distance.......If you're flying into our area, the closest airport with scheduled airline service is in San Luis Obispo (SBP), 30 miles south.
