Burnsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Seats up to 35 GUESTS AT EACH MEAL! 3 FULL MASTER SUITES,LARGE PLAY SET FOR KIDS

Welcome to our authentic log cabin. Our private road brings you through the gate, to the end and top of our road. From the large covered porches, you can enjoy spectacular views of 4 mountain ranges.

Enjoy the spaciousness of this 4500 square foot, 8 bedroom, 7 bath cabin that was recently remodeled. The lodge’s interior features huge, vaulted, log beam ceilings. The Lodge was professionally decorated in a 'Mountain Lodge' and 'Americana' theme with antiques and era replica pieces. Relax in an authentic log cabin, that was custom built with timber harvested from this original homestead. The lodge has a rustic atmosphere, but includes all the modern conveniences and amenities you would expect in a new custom home.

Three of the eight bedrooms are Master suites with their own private master baths, complete with jetted Jacuzzi tubs and oversized tile showers. All of the other five bedrooms have a full bathroom with custom tile showers located adjacent to them. All of the bedrooms have authentic log beds including 1 king, 5 queen, 1 double, and 4 twin beds.We also have 6 twin mattresses with linens that can be moved from room to room. Very high quality bed linens and towels are provided and are unique to each room.

The main living room with it’s twenty foot tall log beam ceiling is completely furnished with overstuffed leather sofas and chairs and a rocker. There is also satellite TV with a DVD/VCR player. This level also includes a huge fully furnished kitchen with service to accommodate 26 people. The kitchen is big and roomy, large enough for many cooks to work in at once. A glass top stove, microwave, dishwasher and two refrigerators with ice makers will provide the necessary means to handle your large group. The main dining table, crafted of timbers cut on the property, seats 20 comfortably. A separate dining table in the adjacent room seats an additional six.

The downstairs great room features a 48 inch flat screen TV with CABLE, DVD/VCR player and a surround sound audio system. This spacious room is decorated in a mountain theme and has all leather overstuffed sofas ,chairs and ottomans. You may just want to sit on the raised hearth and enjoy the heat from the stove while watching a movie or reading a book. There is a wet bar with a small refrigerator as well as a custom pool table, and a 6 foot Air Hockey table. This level also includes the bunk house room, with two sets of twin bunk beds. A full bathroom and separate laundry room with washer, dryer and ground level entrance round out this floor.

The lodge also includes four additional TV’s with separate cable receivers and a wireless internet network to meet your needs.

Outdoors is the hot tub that easily accommodates up to eight. The large covered deck has several rocking chairs, a gas bar-b-cue, and a picnic table for outdoor dining. For those of you that love just sitting around a fire we have an old fashioned wood burning fire pit complete with log rail seating that over looks the mountain ranges. There is also a large wooden play set for the kids entertainment as well as huge boulders for the kids who love to climb and explore. We are 15 mins to town, but remote enough to explore and hike the densely wooded outdoors. (The guide book @ the cabin list 100's of additional area trails and falls to visit and hike)

Centrally located approx 30 minutes to Asheville, Spruce Pines, or skiing at Mt Mitchell or Wolf Laurel. Horseback riding, rafting, tubing or mountain bike riding, golf, hiking, are all in the area. It is about forty five minutes to Linville Caverns, Little Switzerland, Biltmore Estate, Grandfather Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway and many other attractions.

About BILL & CINDY DAVIS

Cindy and Bill met at their church youth group in 1974. and were married in Long Beach, CA. in 1976. Cindy worked for the school district, and Bill retired from law enforcement in 2003. They raised their family in a very rural area of California until retirement. They moved together in 2004 with there 3 married children, their spouses and families to Greeneville, Tennessee. They have 13 grandchildren and 5 adult children all living in the Greeneville area. Several other relative families and friends, have made the move to Tennessee in the years that followed.

BILL & CINDY DAVIS purchased this cabin in 2005

Why BILL & CINDY DAVIS chose Burnsville

We fell in love with this large home on our first visit, and were the owners about 345 days later. The three story Lodge originally was a 10 bedroom home. We had never seen a cabin built with such large timbers all harvested from the property itself. We created 3 master suites causing the reduction in the number of bedrooms. With our immediate family hovering at about 35, this cabin was just ideal for us. There are four large separate gathering areas causing large groups to be able and meet without feeling closed in. After a few years of owning the cabin we decided to try renting it. About 90% of our guests come as part of a family reunion, while the remainder typically consist of Church or Business retreats.

What makes this cabin unique

We get comments each week from guests about many features of the Lodge. The ability to seat your entire group together at the same table is always one of the favorite features at the cabin. The three Master Suites with their own private bathrooms are a great bonus. The availability of the ample supply of other bathrooms makes waiting in line no problem at the Lodge. With end of the road privacy and plenty of room outdoors, there is NEVER a feel of being crowded.

Comfortable cabin and beautiful area

  • 4 of 5
We had a large family group of all ages for a birthday celebration and we had a great time. Cabin was well appointed with lots of activities for everyone. Four wheel drive would be warranted during winter weather.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind remarks Gloria. I am glade your group had a great stay. You did get to experience a good amount of snow, and severe weather. We try to always remind travelers to be prepared with snow chains or 4 wheel drive in the event a bad storm rolls in.

Perfect Stay!

  • 5 of 5
We had a group of 18 people (9 couples) staying from Friday thru Sunday. We had a great time, and the lodge could not have been a better fit for us. Plenty of room to keep everyone happy. We were a bit worried about getting snowed in as the forecast called for 4"-12" of snow. Accumulation totaled 6" on Saturday, but we were able to leave by 10AM on Sunday. It seems that other reviewers have mentioned things about the driveway, but we had no issues despite the snow. We had a 2wd Honda CRV (extremely light, 4 cylinder, rear-wheel drive vehicle) make it down with ease. The views of the snowy mountains were very nice. We spent quite a bit of time out by the fire pit and in the game room on the bottom floor. The owner was extremely nice and truly cared about us during our stay!!! Our group takes a trip to the mountains every fall, and this will certainly be on the top of our list next year!

BEWARE! Owner has lack of concern for anything but your money and his property.

My brother in law is the nicest man on the face of the earth. He wrote the next review. I split the cost with him on the rental. We were super excited and despite the issues we had fun with our families. I agree we love the huge kitchen and multiple bedrooms/bathrooms. The owner called and asked if it would be ok to send a handyman to prep the heaters in case they were needed that weekend. My brother in law said it was fine. After several hours of this guy tracking mud throughout the house (which we had to clean), power disruption to the porch refrigerator for hours so we had to unload it into a cooler, the smell of kerosene inside the house and outside for hours, and his incompetence leading to the breakdown of the hot tub which was one of the primary reasons we rented this property, we realized the "brief" maintenance visit was an unwelcome intrusion on our day. When my brother in law contacted the owner about the kerosene leak and broken hot tub the response was to flip a breaker. Wow. Thanks for the help. My husband and I live in southeast TN and we have rented many cabins over the years. We even lived in the mountains of NC for a few years so I understand when I see a cabin with weird placements for outlets (master bedroom light for bathroom in the hallway?) or exposed wiring as this seems to be normal construction standards in western NC. However, we have never rented a cabin that had a threatening note in almost every room. Don't do this or there is a $100 fine, don't do that or there is a $250 fine, don't fart in the hallway or there is a fine. What a downer to read these repeatedly all weekend. Why is there a cleaning fee if we have to strip our own beds, bag and carry out the trash, and do all the dishes? I have never stayed in a cabin that had a place to build a fire but did not supply any firewood. There is not a clearly marked trail for hiking. If the owners are going to include this as an amenity of the rental there should be a guide as to where people are allowed to hike as we encountered no hiking signs posted everywhere and gave up. In order to use the 2 rocking chairs on the porch (8 bedrooms/2 rockers?) the kitchen A/C had to be turned off because the exhaust and noise were overwhelming. There is dust all over the "Americana" décor so if you have allergies bring your meds. We left the cabin spotless and in great condition. I took pics because I noticed the owners bash any negative reviews by saying the renters were bad.

Owner's Response: My husband and I are very sorry your stay did not go as you planned. We try our very best to make each guests stay an enjoyable and positive experience. We average more than 700 guests each year at the Lodge. We are very proud that more than half of our bookings are from returning families and groups. The positive notes and comments guests share with us, is why we continue sharing the lodge, year after year. When I exchanged e-mails with you after your stay, I was not made aware of how you felt. Your first review gave us a 4 out of 5 stars rating. Your large headline was “A great place for large groups to stay” Your second review a few days later gave us a 1 out of 5 stars, and said what a bad place it was. You requested a refund check and I mailed it right out to you that day. I thanked you for staying with us and believed all was fine!? I explained my husband had just been admitted to the hospital (during your stay) as an emergency, and would likely be there for several days. He usually handles the cabin repairs and servicing. He had not been able to test all of the heating systems on each level. The weather had started cooling a bit earlier, than we had expected. The maintenance man discovered that an apparent lightening strike (a few nights prior to your arrival) had caused a short requiring the need to replace the complete circuit boards on one heater and on the spa. He ordered the parts, and requested expedited shipping. Lightning strikes sometimes happen in mountain areas. The parts arrived a few days later and both units were operating as designed. In hind sight, it would have been better if my husband had serviced the heating systems a few weeks earlier. We had not had any gaps in guests for several weeks and were caught off guard by the forecasted cold weather. We have however had the cleaning company add an additional person to the cleaning crew to be sure extra steps were taken in addressing any potential for dust in the cabin. I am just not sure how to really respond in regards to this guests other comments. I have read, and re-read your “revised” NEW REVIEW and are very sorry you feel this way. I would have liked the opportunity to speak with you about your complaint, as customer satisfaction is our only business. In the last 10 years, I can only recall one other instance, of not being able to satisfy a guest. We will do our best to make this a learning experience, for both Bill and I.

Great cabin for family get together

  • 5 of 5
Our family really enjoyed our stay at this great cabin. There were 14 of us but you never felt like everyone was on top of each other. Plenty of room to enjoy yourself and it was great for everyone to sit down to a meal together at one table.
Several people mentioned the driveway before we rented but it was never an issue. No 4 wheel drive vehicles in our group and we never had problems getting to the cabin.
The owners were happy to answer our questions both before and during our stay and if we decide to visit the area again we will definitely see if this cabin is available. We would recommend it to any large family visiting the area.

Great place for large groups

  • 4 of 5
This cabin was a convenient location for our large family to meet. Lots of bedrooms and a large kitchen. We really enjoyed the opportunity to all eat together around the massive kitchen table. Even with a lot of people, there were lots of spaces in the house to gather in small groups or alone. The kids had a lot of fun in the game room.
The most enjoyable part of the trip was discovering a deer rehabilitation farm just down the street. The owners were gracious enough to let us feed and pet the many fawns they had.
The cabin was very well decorated in old Americana themes and had a rustic feel. I heard from some in our group that the bedrooms without windows got pretty warm at night but my room was very comfortable and the bed was very cozy.
A couple of negatives were that the hot tub had a small leak, but after the maintenance man came to make repairs, it stopped working completely. Everyone was pretty bummed about that, since the hot tub was an important factor in our rental decision. Another issue was a kerosene leak. It was leaking in two places and leaving a strong oder downstairs. Lastly, if you have dust allergies, you may want to look elsewhere as the cleaning service pretty much just hits the easy to reach spots.
We had had a great time but I was disappointed that no partial refund was offered in light of the hot tub and kerosene issues.

Owner's Response: THIS REVIEW, AND THE FOLLOWING REVIEW WERE FOR THE SAME STAY A MONTH EARLIER. ************************** MY WIFE AND I HAVE TRIED OUR BEST TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE IN OPINIONS. OUR OFFER OF AN ADDITIONAL STAY AT A LATER DATE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. IT APPEARS SOMETHING MUST HAVE HAPPENED IN THE TWELVE DAYS BETWEEN THE TWO REVIEWS TO CAUSE THE DIFFERENCE IN PROSPECTIVE S. THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR BOOKINGS ARE FOR VERY LARGE GROUPS. MOST ARE FOR FAMILY REUNIONS WITH 25 TO 40 RELATIVES TOGETHER FOR A FEW DAYS. THERE HAS BEEN A FEW TIMES IN THE LAST 10 YEARS, THAT ALL GUESTS DID NOT HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE. WE TRY OUR BEST TO LEARN AND NOT DISAPPOINT IN THE SAME WAY. VERY FEW GUESTS TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE AND POST A REVIEW. WE ALWAYS LEAVE A COMMENTS SHEET, AND ENCOURAGE SUGGESTIONS THAT WOULD MAKE THEIR STAY BETTER. OVER THE YEARS WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED NUMEROUS IDEAS LEFT BY GUESTS. WE BELIEVE THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM TO IMPROVE AND TRY NEW IDEAS. BY TRYING OUR BEST TO SATISFY EVERY GUEST, WE HAVE CONTINUED TO INCREASE OUR BOOKINGS YEAR AFTER YEAR.

A great place for family reunions

  • 5 of 5
My family had a wonderful time in this beautiful and roomy cabin. The owner was helpful and responsive to my many questions both before and after I booked our stay. We had a large family reunion with people of all ages in our group. Everyone found the cabin comfortable with lots to do for the children. It was fully stocked with soaps, detergent and paper products. We had several cars without AW or 4WD and had no issues with the driveway. My favorite two places at the cabin were the fire pit and large dining table which allowed for the entire family to eat meals at the same time and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and company.

Owner's Response: Thank you London for your very kind words. I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to write a review. You left the Lodge is such good condition. The cleaning crew shared they were able to cut their normal cleaning time in half. I received a few e-mails from others in your group, expressing their gratitude for our sharing the Lodge. Each one wrote that they had a great time with the family. Thanks again, We hope to see you again soon.
