There can be seen owls, peregrine falcon, eagles, and other typical Maine birds, foxes, deer, an occasional moose, seals, porpoises as well as many lovely fishing and sailboats. There are numerous hikes and bicycle trails open for your pleasure when leaf peeping, as well as restaurants in neighboring Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. Since this beautiful house has a hand built granite fireplace and year-round heating throughout the house, it is a warm environment to spend even in the winter months when snow is on the ground and groomed cross country skiing open on the carriage trails (depending on weather conditions). But, the light is more reflective and grand during these off peak season, which make this an even more remarkable retreat. And, there are restaurants in both villages that stay open year-round! Lobster is always available, too. The quiet, the beauty and the comfort ma
