The nice bright patio has a natural gas barbeque and outdoor furniture for relaxing and enjoying the evening sun and mountain views. The kids can play on the grass in your private fenced backyard.
Hawthorne House is nicely situated in a quiet new neighborhood close to downtown Nanaimo and Nanaimo Parkway Highway for easy access up and down the island. This is a great location to use as a base to explore what Vancouver Island has to offer. It is close to Vancouver Island University, Parks, Nanaimo Aquatic and Ice Centre, Trans Canada and Parkway Trail for walking/biking/jogging.
The Hawthorne neighborhood is a block away from the Buttertubs Marsh Conservation area and bird sanctuary with an easy trail system. The trail system has an entrance right across the street at Hawthorne Park. It is ideal for cyclists and joggers or even a leisurely stroll.
Hawthorne Park is midpoint in the trail system heading in all four directions of the compass. It leads to Colliery Dam and Chase River Estuary Park to the south, Nanaimo Lakes, Morell Sanctuary and Westwood Lake swimming beach to the west (nice spot - it is a short drive too) Parkway Trail to Brannen and Green Lake to the North, and Bowen Park with it's petting zoo and the Harbourfront Walkway with Swy-a-Lana Lagoon Park in downtown Nanaimo and Beach Estates Park to the West. Take a day and explore each way.
Make sure to check out the Wild Play Park at Nanaimo Lakes including aerial adventure courses, bungy jump, king swing and zip lines. For waterskiing and wakeboarding Brannen Lake is the local hotspot but we also enjoy Long Lake. Tide pools and thousands of baby crabs at the ocean lagoon steps at Swy-a-Lana Park are worth exploring. A short drive to almost any lake or beach will have lots of trails to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

We fell in love with this charming well built new home in a great new neighbourhood close to VIU. It is a great location to live while attending University. We are outdoor enthusiasts and we enjoy walking, hiking and biking. We also enjoy boating on the local lakes, skiing at Mt. Washington and surfing in Tofino. We love the location close to everything and the fabulous trail system. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do and our other renters have.
We chose this very central location in Nanaimo because it was close to everything in a safe and quiet new neighbourhood. In the summer season it becomes a home away from home for visitors wanting to explore what Vancouver Island has to offer from a comfortably furnished home with lovely private outdoor space.
It is easy to get anywhere in Nanaimo or explore Vancouver Island from here because it is close to the Nanaimo Parkway and a five minute drive from downtown. This home is very close to walking and biking trails that lead in four directions to many of the attractions in Nanaimo. It has more comforts and ammenities that most rentals because it is owner occupied for most of the year. The well equipped kitchen and big screen TV are features of this bright and open home with lovely patio and yard.
