Custer, the oldest city in the Black Hills, where gold was first discovered by a member of General George Custer’s army. Surrounded by the majestic beauty of the Southern Black Hills, the building was built in 1893 as the original Custer Post Office. History, Beauty and Amenities abound. The Penthouse has been restored, maintaining much of its original charm including the original wood work, stained glass exterior front windows and offers all modern day conveniences. Walk no more than 4 blocks to many wonderful restaurants, unique shops and other historic buildings including the 1881 Historic Custer Court House Museum which is next door. You will have a private entrance and private off street parking with a beautiful backyard for grilling and enjoying!

This Downtown Penthouse: is 1200 square-feet with 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. The building has been extensively remodeled and most everything is new including kitchen, bathroom, flooring, heating and air systems, beds, linens, appliances yes pretty much everything. If you are looking for an experience that is out of the ordinary, look no further. Great views of downtown Custer, the surrounding area and an original gold discovery day’s location. So much to do and see - There is much to do and see in the Black Hills of South Dakota: Of course, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Mountain come first to mind each a 4 to 15 mile distance. Plus all the fabulous family attractions, then add to your list the Mickelson Trail, 2 blocks from the Penthouse which runs 100 miles from Deadwood to Edgemont with incredible hiking, biking and horse riding.

The Most Beautiful Lakes; including Sylvan, Legion, Bismark and Stockade all within 3 to 10 miles, great for swimming, boating and fishing. Unique shops, restaurants and galleries abound in Custer and the nearby towns of Hill City and Hot Springs. Custer has a nice 9- hole golf course or try 18- holes at the new world class Southern Hills Course in Hot Springs, a 35 minute drive. If headed to Hot Springs take in Wind Cave Park a fabulous underground cave and The Mammoth Site, a current on going archaeological dig of the Ancient Woolly Mammoth, both have year round tours. Custer State Park is my favorite just 4 miles east with the largest free roaming herd of buffalo in N. America, plus big horn sheep, wild burros, elk, deer, beautiful eagles, and Scenery to died for, all visible from paved roads. If you are more adventuress hike, bike or horse ride in Custer State Park, you will be glad you made the time.

Nice Thanksgiving Getaway!

We stayed at the penthouse during our thanksgiving break. It is a lovely older home that was spotless, beautifully decorated, spacious and completely
updated. We really enjoyed our stay. We liked the fact that it was also pet friendly and we were able to bring our dog along. It was nice to be close to all the SD attractions. Toni was wonderful to work with and there were no hidden fees which was nice (something i have found in alot of VRBO listings). I thought we got a great deal. I would stay again and would recommend this destination to others. Thank you Toni!

Can't Wait to Stay Again.

This was a wonderful place to stay, right in the middle of a great town. Groceries, eating establishments and shopping all within walking distance. The apartment was beautifully restored and decorated, spotless, had everything we needed, and a great view of the town and Custer sign. The courtyard was a nice place to unwind with a table, chairs and grill. Custer is a convenient location close to Custer Park, Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. Beautiful motorcycle riding area. Toni was very helpful. We will stay here again and recommend it highly to others.

The apartment was lovely, spotless, very nicely decorated, and had all the necessities, plus several nice extras (shampoo and conditioner, laundry detergent, etc.). It was centrally located for all activities in the Black Hills and even our dog had a good time - nice and close to the Mickelson hiking trail. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone else. Just be aware of the 22 steps up to the living area!

My family and I rented the penthouse for a week while we vacationed in the Black Hills area. We loved the apartment....very nice and clean with lots of room. And we really enjoyed being right in the heart of town and close to so many Black Hills attractions. Would highly recommend it to others.
