If you like the outdoors, you'll love our home! The view of quiet, quaint Little Black Lake is spectacular! This 1 mile long lake is perfect for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. We include the free use of our bikes, kayaks, canoe and row boat in our rental rate. Hoffmaster State park is in our back yard. The magnificent park is home to huge 200' sand dunes, miles and miles of hiking and cross country ski trails and over 3 miles of sandy Lake Michigan beach. (Lake Michigan is about a 20 minute hike from our house) In the fall the pace slows in our area but the beauty remains. The fall colors are spectacular In the winter enjoy cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating or just light a fire in our fireplace and curl up on the couch and read a book. The Lakes Mall, Craig's Cruisers, countless restaurants, golf courses, theaters, bowling alleys, pubs etc. are less than five minutes away by car.

Notes: Our home has hardwood & tile floors throughout. This house is very clean with a beautiful view of the lake out the front windows . Look out the back windows and into the rolling hills and forests of Hoffmaster State Park. Our home sits on approximately 2 acres of land so, there's plenty of room both inside and outside.

We do have another home, listing #322166: Both house are on Little Black Lake and Hoffmaster State Park and each has High Speed Wireless Internet and Cable TV. We allow well trained, well behaved dogs in our home. We have an ample supply of board games, books and videos.

Our Unique Area: Little Black Lake is a precious inland lake. Unlike many West Michigan lakes it is nearly undeveloped. There are only a handful of homes on the entire lake. Therefore, it is an excellent lake for kayaking, canoeing or fishing. It is not unusual to catch 5# Bass, 10 inch Bluegills or large Northern Pike. I should also mention that we do not recommend Little Black Lake for swimming. Although the water quality has been tested and it is one of the cleanest lakes around, it also is a shallow weedy lake and most parts have a muddy bottom. For swimming, we recommend Lake Michigan. You can walk there from our home. It takes about 20 minutes but I assure you if you take the hike, you'll feel like you've found paradise.

Little Black Lake Getaway

Owner's provided accurate description of property. Home was clean, well maintained and pet friendly. All amenities were provided and then some including rowboats, kyaks, canoes, fire pit, bicycles, helmets and even a walking stick for trails and binoculars for birdwatching. The house was cozy, bathrooms clean and kitchen was very well equiped. The owners were very informative about the area and readily available for the few questions we had. The location was very private and quiet and the light on Little Black Lake was magical at sunrise and sunset. There were numerous hiking trails and the walk to the beach through Hoffmaster State Park was pretty short. This getaway provides a very good combination of comfort and outdoor activities. There is nice shopping and gelato in Grand Haven just to the south and the farmers market in Muskegon, just to the north is very large. All in all it was very relaxing and fun.

We are also very lucky to have Hoffmaster State Park in our back yard and even though we have lived in West Michigan all of our lives we are still in awe of Lake Michigan and the beautiful dunes. All of our guests should plan to spend a day walking on of the singing sand beaches in our area and watching sunset over the Big Lake.

Wonderful Vacation Home!

We had a great time on our vacation. The home was clean and had all the amenities we could hope for. The kids loved fishing and kayaking in the lake. There were games and a ping pong table that the kids enjoyed playing with. We loved that we could bring our dog and there was plenty of room for her to run. We would recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a fun getaway in a clean, relaxing environment.

We had a fantastic week at the Hoffmaster house. We live out of state but are originally from Michigan. This was the perfect place to have our friends and family come and visit us for some fun and relaxation. It was the perfect size for our family of five, with room to spare. We enjoyed the firepit, the boats and hiking through Hoffmaster.

West Michigan has so much to see and do. At our Hoffmaster House, Little Black Lake in front of the house and Lake Michigan in back. (It is a 20 minute hike through Hoffmaster to get to the beach but it is worth the walk.) We supply 3 kayaks, a canoe and a row boat for exploring and fishing on Little Black Lake. We're truly blessed to live in such a gorgeous area.

Fun for the whole family

We loved our stay at the Hoffmaster House! The kids had so much fun with the canoes, kayacks, and fishing equipment. We loved the birds, especially watching the swan family out on Little Black Lake. The house had everything we needed and more. It was clean and the beds and linens were very nice. The house is convenient to Grand Haven and Muskegon yet it felt like you were far away from all the crowds. We spent many days exploring P.J. Hoffmaster state park and highly recommend hiking through it from the house. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back!

Fantastic!

We had a wedding in Muskegon and stayed in this lovely home. It was a great place to get ready, spend time with family and then kick back and relax. We spent time walking the trails in Hoffmaster park and kayaking. Little Black Lake is beautiful. It was like we had our own private lake provided great photo ops for the wedding party. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and well maintained. We'll be back again...we also loved the fact that we could bring our dog.
