One night FREE with an April 6-13 stay. This recently upgraded unit is a Sugar Beach rare gem with true Hawaiian flavor. The architecturally designed condo unit features maple cabinets, granite counters, beautiful floor tiles, ambiance lighting, island-style woodwork and built-in casework in the traditional Hawaiian plantation style. See the 'Live Aloha Suite' videos on Youtube for a tour of this tastefully built condominium.
Cast open the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors and take in Maui at it’s best. The soothing ocean waves and marvelous sunrises and sunsets remind you that you are in a very special place. Your Hawaiian experience is enhanced by the tropical décor offset by the palm trees’ gentle sway from the trade winds. This is a prime location condominium unit. It does not have the extended lanai wall, as do so many SBR condos. No extended wall means the unobstructed view is beautiful (see the video). The classically beautiful floor tile extends from the living area through the lanai for the feeling of an expanded living area. You are truly on the beach on Maui with all of the sights and smells you expect. Sit on your 4th floor private lanai and watch the Hawaiian lifestyle unfold before you. Enjoy the outrigger club races, snorkelers, beach walkers, swimmers, kite boarders, stand up paddlers and during the season, breaching whales. Or, sit in the living room to enjoy the same scene! This unit is truly “front and center”, yet amazingly private. One feels as if in a beach house without neighbors, owing in part to the hypnotic waves, tranquil setting and beautiful interiors.
Kihei is known for enjoying Maui’s better weather. Sugar Beach Resort (SBR) is located north of Kihei Town for that “get away from it all” feeling. Yet, it is close enough to Kihei and Wailea to sample their fares—entertainment and restaurants. West Maui with Lahaina is a picturesque, scenic, twenty-minute drive away. Neighboring Kealia Pond is a national refuge, which exhibits native flora and fauna. SBR is situated in a unique and rare setting.
THE LIVE ALOHA SUITE is tastefully designed and appointed, fresh, clean and lovingly cared for by the owners. The island artwork is authentic and the unit has more than sufficient necessities. Come stay in the best apartment in Sugar Beach Resort, on the loveliest and longest sandy beach on Maui. Your stay will be memorable. (managed on island by Maui Condo & Home, LLC)

Doug and Starla Sage live in Edmonds Wa. For a time, in our early twenties, we lived on Maui and fell in love with the place. Doug owns a construction management firm in Seattle and Starla is retired due to a successful double lung transplant in 2011. We love to travel, and spend time in Pismo Beach, CA, La Conner and the San Juan Islands, WA, as well as Sugar Beach. We are looking forward to Doug's retirement when we can spend more time in our lovely Maui condo.
In the meantime, I volunteer at the UW Lung Transplant Center helping others cope with transplant issues. I also volunteer at my local food bank, and when on Maui, at a homeless soup kitchen, Hale Kau Kau. It is great to get to know the locals through my volunteering.
We have one grown son who has written and produced songs for the recording artist, Macklemore. Life is Good and we are very thankful!
We spent a lot of time deciding where to buy on Maui. We love West Maui, but felt it had become too crowded. South Maui, and specifically north Kihei, is much more relaxed. We love to walk and swim and have access to the many Maui amenities. Sugar Beach is 5 miles long, a tranquil swimming beach and centrally located. It met all our needs. Sugar Beach has air conditioning in the units, whereas most places do not. It is nice to have that option, at times it can get pretty hot. I also liked that it has a hot tub and lovely grounds. Many guests return year after year. So much to do, so little time. You have to come back!
Doug wanted to upgrade the condo, and while I was waiting for my transplant, he hired a well known Seattle architect to add something special to the place. I was a bit worried as I didn't have the energy to give any input. So, when I saw it after the remodel, I was blown away! Isn't it nice to walk into something you didn't expect and be thrilled?! We're sure you'll be thrilled too!
