Monte das Pedras is a privately owned house situated in one acre of south facing hillside with panoramic views of the valley and village of Gorjöes beyond. The tranquil natural rock garden setting makes for an ideal 'get away from it all' holiday. Whilst secluded, it is ideally situated between the towns of São Bras de Alportel (a typical Algarvian town) and the well-known market town of Loulé. Good shopping and restaurants are all within 6 kilometres, with a superb restaurant nearby. Extensive terracotta terraces surround the house and 9X6.5m private pool with furniture, sun-loungers and barbecue for al fresco dining. A roof terrace is ideal for sun-tanning or a cool evening place to view the Mediterranean sunsets and night sky. Shade is provided by bamboo covered terraces. The house is recently furnished in local pine with comfortable settees and an open fire for cooler evenings. Monte das Pedras is situated down a quiet lane in beautiful countryside 20 minutes drive from Faro Airport, mid-way between Loulé and São Bras de Alportel. Set in one acre of hillside it has no neighbouring properties close by. Depending on the season it offers wonderful spring flowers, spectacular sunsets and good walking and birdwatching, certainly a place to unwind. North lie the mountains and conservation areas of cork oak and eucalyptus forests and the Alentejo, whilst the Spanish border is only 45 minutes east. It is 25 minutes from beaches and top class golf facilities at Val do Lobo and Quinta do Lago. There are a number of small food shops and bars in nearby Gorjöes, with a good French restaurant less that 2km away, and good supermarkets and restaurants in Loulé and São Bras de Alportel, no more than 6km away.

Additional information about rental rates

  • The above prices are for occupancy of FOUR people. RATES ARE INCREASED FOR 6 PEOPLE - PLEASE ENQUIRE. The pool can be heated for an additional £85 per week- please indicate whether you wish this. Price includes maid service twice a week for cleaning, a good welcome pack of groceries and the services of a local English manager. Swimming towels are not provided. Payment by £sterling cheque please. A deposit cheque of £200 or 20% of rental, whichever is the greater, will be required with a completed booking form which we will send you following a confirmatory telephone call from us, if you wish to continue with the booking . The final payment will be due 6 weeks before departure together with a separate £200 breakage deposit cheque, which we do not bank and is destroyed if there is no deduction to be made. We will also be happy to arrange low cost car rental with a reliable well established local company. Please call us if you have any questions at all.

Notes: Whilst all on one level, the house is unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties or toddlers as there are steps up from the drive and around the pool area.A high chair and baby bath are available but please advise if needed. Free standing fans , mosquito nets and electric heaters are provided. We have recently installed a large air conditioning/ cooler weather heating unit which can be made available for a reasonable fee. The large tiled pool , 9x6.5metres which can be heated by arrangement, has wide steps and a central handrail leading down. 6 Sunloungers and cushions are provided. A bamboo-covered terrace from the pool store provides shade for eating al fresco. A built-in charcoal barbecue is at the rear together with a staircase to the roof terrace. Steps from the pool area lead down to the drive and round to the breakfast terrace. A car is essential to enjoy the location and the surrounding area to the full.

Staying at the Villa was like a home from home. We all enjoyed the large pool, which was kept cleaned and well maintained by the local management personnel, as was the villa. The villa is in a great location, ie. quiet but within easy reach of Loule and a number of restaurants on the main road to Sao Bras Alportel, all of which are very good and resonably priced. Villa also in reach of a number of supermarkets. We really enjoyed our 2 week stay and in fact have already booked to go back in 2009.
