Comfortable house very near the charming lake

  • 4 of 5
We spent a pleasant stay in that house wish is spacious with a large sunny living room and comfortable bedrooms. We was a bit disappointed of the view due to big trees on lakeside then we could see very few of the landscape. Nevertheless the large terrace was very relaxing and we could use the wonderful barbecue. We didn't use the hot tubs (too durty) but we made a lot of very interesting visits all around the Sebago Region ( Portland, Bath, around the Sebago lake, and LL Bean in Freeport of course!...). It is a good location for visiting the Maine, so nice!

Owner's Response: The views of the lake are even more spectacular during the fall foliage!

We do not advertise the hot tub because we prefer to not have that liability.

9 day stay infested with hundreds of carpenter ants

  • 2 of 5
Aframe had damage in ceiling, noted when arrived...got worse with rain storm. Couldn't reach owner by email or phone. Hundreds of carpenter ants (similar to termites ) on all 3 floors. Lots of bug spray under sink. Not willing to spray inside due to young children. Sprayed outside daily without success. Also one br so small couldn't move once bed open. Ceiling in TV room not finished...fiberglass insulation exposed.

Owner's Response: The amount of rain this season seemed to have made the wild life a active this season. We have a company in the process of controlling those little pests. The ceiling is the last piece in completing the comfortable and carpeted basement. Also, the twelve inch superficial paint peeling is due to winter ice damning and not current rain. It will be repainted. The challenges living in the beautiful wild; priceless.

Lake weekend in the woods

  • 5 of 5
he house is nice with an open concept. Nice, big living room that opens up to an expansive deck. There were six of us at the house and it never felt cramped for space. We made a trip to Old Port one afternoon (35 minutes) for some food and shopping. Another afternoon was spent grilling and enjoying the sunset on the deck. One caution is the steep driveway, one of the guests had a small car that was low to the ground and scraped the road pulling into and out of the drive. Overall, great property. The owner, Michael, was very accommodating and promptly answer all questions.

another great holiday at the lake

  • 5 of 5
This is our second year in a row staying at this lovely home and we will continue to return. The home makes for a grand vacation for all.
For those who want solitude, it is in a quiet neighborhood in the middle of the forest. We saw wild turkey right outside the front door. And the lake is right across the street. We went kayaking almost every day and had amazing bonding with nature. You can fall asleep without any sounds at all.
And yet it is only a 10 minute drive to town and anything you could need. And in 30 minutes you can be at the pier in Portland getting lobsters from the fishermen. Short drives to Boothbay and Cape Elizabeth were also fun. In summary, the location is superb.
Mike and Trina are great hosts and they keep the place fantastic. We would highly recommend this vacation spot.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5
My family had great times kayaking on the lake. Hanging out on the sandy beach of Spider Island was very relaxing. My wife and I love the call of the loons and they were never that far away. There were many natural sounds of the night to hear from the comforts of the master bedroom. The weather was great with nights so cool it required some windows to be closed. We had delightful meals on the main floor deck overlooking the lake though the trees. Though there is a TV in the basement, it was only turned on by me a few times to check news and weather. We rented our kayaks (Bill at SebagoLakeTrails is a very nice guy) and kept them at the lake access area for convenience. Baxter, the neighbor's cat, was usually around to greet us on our commutes. We made many day trips; some to Portland for their abundant restaurant choices (check out the portlandfoodmap site for ideas), others to Old Orchard Beach, Yarmouth and Freeport, of course. The lake is ideal for power boaters, but there were times when the water was calmer and paddlers could really enjoy it. My son and I saw a bald eagle in Upper Bay and a huge snapping turtle on a big rock in the cove just around the bend from the access area. We really enjoyed paddling around Grape Island and exploring the back pond north of Hayden Bay. The owners are very nice and they have a lot of stuff there for guests to use. Just ask if you're not sure what to bring. It was a vacation we won't soon forget. Maine truly is the way life should be.
