One of the oldest farm houses in Comal County, this historic home is located one mile off I-35 in New Braunfels, Texas, on one-half acre, surrounded with majestic oak trees. Centrally located, minutes from the famous Guadeloupe and Comal rivers, Schlitterbahn, historic Gruene, and five minutes from the Prime and Tanger outlet malls with over 200 shops. You're only 35 minutes from San Antonio (with its famous River Walk, the Alamo, Fiesta Texas and Sea World), 30 minutes from Austin (our State Capital, and famous 6th Street), and walking distance to the oldest tavern in Texas (with live music most nights).

Wahlhiefer Haus has two bedrooms with queen beds and DirecTv, one bedroom with queen bed and private bath, two bedrooms with one twin bed each, and the living room, with DirecTv and Wifi,, with a sofa bed that sleeps two, for a total of ten guests. The Bunk Haus sleeps eleven (two double bunks and one full futon with bunk bed on top), DirecTv, microwave, and refrigerator.

This historic home has been completely renovated with central heat and air, municipal water, and all the comforts of modern country living (from DirecTv to Wifi), yet still surrounded by it's rich history. There are posted stories throughout the house, revealing a peek at country life a century past. The original windmill, chicken haus, hog haus, and outhaus are still available for you to see.

Enjoy the lonesome sound of a train whistle and the warble of a brilliant red Cardinal, while feeding the nearly tame resident squirrels. Have breakfast outside under the giant oak trees while the squirrels scamper down to watch you. A family of Cardinals get in on the act with their musical serenade while you enjoy your coffee and plan your day. In the evening, cool off with our outdoor shower, enjoy steaks and hamburgers on our large gas barbeque grill or hot dogs and marshmallows around the campfire, or relax.

Great Weekend Getaway

We have been going to the New Braunfels area for many years and have stayed in a number of rentals from hotel rooms to condos and B & B's in the Gruene area but wanted to stay somewhere quieter. Walhiefer Haus turned out to be perfect. There were two adult couples so the size of the home offered more space than necessary, which was nice. Lots of parking. The location gives the opportunity to stay in the country and still be only six miles from all of the activities in the Gruene and New Braunfels area. Riley's Bar is right next door while The Happy Cow bar is a short quiet walk down the road.
The "Cow" has excellent food that is served late.
The trains coming by are something to be aware of but they caused us no problems at all. The property and the area are both fun to explore. Bettie is very flexible, professional and easy to contact.
It's our new "home away from home" for future trips.

Weekend Getaway

We had a great time! The place was PERFECT! We had 13 people in our party, all adults and there was plenty of room to hang out and sleep.

The BBQ patio area is nice, and the picnic table is convenient. It could use a little more light out there, but it was sufficient and not a big deal. Lots of BBQ Pits and all the supplies needed for BBQing. Very big yard! And even a spot for a Bonfire.

The inside was cozy and had many rooms and many, many, many beds. Lots of full size beds and a couple twin size beds. It is a little older home, but clean and very comfortable.

Bring extra towels. There's only a couple in the room. We could have used some trash bags too at clean up time.

We made a trip to the local bar down the street - walking distance. It was fun and a very easy walk back.

There is a train that goes by every so often, but they'e fast and it didn't bother us at all.

We definitely will come again! Next time, we plan to make it a family outing for all of us and there will STILL be plenty of room. Thanks Wahlhiefer Haus! We will be back again soon!!

Fabulous River Tubing Weekend

I wanted to thank Bettie for the use of the farmhouse. It was an amazing trip for all of us. There were 12 of us that visited the Wahlhiefer Haus for the weekend. We all had wonderful time.The location was perfect. The 2 bars nearby worked well for us after a long day on the river. The house was clean and comfortable. We did not realize there was a train that was so close by and honked its horn everytime it came by, but I think after a couple times, we got use to the noise. Just be aware. We have decided that if it is around next year, we will gladly come back to stay. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Clary Clan visits New Braunfels

This was the second time we rented this house & once again, it was perfect!
We love the location & the boys love the bunkhouse! The realtor is so easy to
work with, very cordial, informative, reachable & does followups.

Since we have lots of grandsons, we would like to see a basketball goal installed
on the driveway if possible.

We would definitely rent it again!!
