Cabin is located on the east shoreline of Houghton Lake. Large dock for watercrafts. Great swimming and fishing. A 40 foot dock with a bench that faces the beautiful sunsets on Houghton Lake. Lawn swing that over looks the lake for capturing the early morning sun and water fowl. Beautiful view of the night lights reflecting on the lake. Large lawn area between the cabin in the lake that is great for yard games.Wood burning stove with firewood on hand for those chilly evenings or romancing with an open fire, or roasting hot dogs on a rainy day. Handy kitchen with all dishes and utensils. Cable TV with DVD in the living room. Each bedroom is has a TV with cable. Great fishing right out front of the cabin. There is an array of menus from local restaurants for in and take out dining or delivery. Outdoor gas grill and charcoal grill are provided. Large cement patio with table and chairs. All you need to bring is your bedding, towels and toiletries.

Houghton Lake is great for boating and fishing. There are miles ORV trails in the area. Houghton Lake as a 'Fun Land for Children' with go-carts, batting cages, putt-putt golf, and more. For crafters there is Arnies, one of the largest craft stores in Michigan. For shopping there is WalMart, K-Mart, Glens and Hubs. Great meat shop 'Family Meats' for the perfect steaks for grilling. Several novelty shops along the M-55 strip through Houghton Lake. Houghton Lake is in the middle of the state, so day trips to other sites or recreations area is also convenient. This area is great for winter sports, ice fishing and snowmobling.

nice get away

we stayed here the second week in july 2009, very nice place. it is a nice yard ,they had everything we needed, the houses are close but no one bothers you, the yard gets mowed every friday. and it was great she let us have our dog , the one house next door has a dog but its very well behaved and stayed in it own yard other then that i never seen any other dogs , i love the yard it has stairs going into the water so you dont have to climb down dock ladders, the bed were nice. the house is so roomy lots of storage,and the town has everything,walmart,dollar stores,kmart. lot of places to eat or you can have food delivered. she is a very good house keeper it was very clean, i cant wait until we go back this year. if you want a great place to stay you should try it .

Updated furniture needed

Four of us spent 4 nights in this cabin and ended up leaving early. The furniture is dirty and uncomfortable. There are two sofa beds and one is broken and can't be used. The other is old and very uncomfortable. The beds in both bedrooms have old mattresses and we came away with sore backs. The microwave needs replacing as well. The cabin is roomy but so close to the neighbors. One neighbor is extremely unfriendly and it is obvious she does not like the fact that this is a rental property. The neighbors are so close and there are so many dogs running around that would come into the rental yard and use it as a bathroom. The grass was not mowed upon our arrival and stayed that way throughout our stay. The steps leading to the water were so slippery (no sign posted or treads on the steps) that I fell and injured my back, leg, knee and butt. Houghton Lake is also very limited in things to do. Restaurants are below average. Only one movie theater with one movie showing. No shopping at all. Would not recommend this as a vacation destination.

A great getaway

We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. It was centrally located to the things we wanted to do and it was a lovely setting. The people handling the rental were easy to contact and friendly. The cabin was freshly cleaned. We would stay again. We hated to come home.

Excellent place to stay!

My husband and I stayed at this cabin and enjoyed it so much we came back again. This is a pet friendly cottage for responsible owners. Everything listed in the description is accurate, and the amenities are wonderful. Joe and Debbie are responsive and attentive, and wonderful to rent from. We love the Houghton Lake area and are glad we found this cabin to rent. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family, and hope to come back soon!
