I would most definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a great vacation rental in San Francisco!
The owner, Toon, was wonderful. She was very quick to respond, answered all my questions immediately, provided a simple but thorough rental agreement, and easy options to pay. We sent her a Cdn cheque for the security deposit which she wasn't thrilled about (Cdn cheques being difficult to deal with in the US, it seems), but agreed to let us simply provide our credit card number when we arrived, no problem. No other payment was required up front - we paid the rent in full upon our arrival. Another huge plus, Toon was entirely flexible with the timing of both our arrival and departure.
The location was great - virtually right on the Embarcardero, an easy walk to the Ferry Building, and far enough away from the commotion of Fishermans' Wharf but close enough to walk it or reach it by a quick and easy streetcar ride. And it's just steps from AT&T park for baseball fans, and right off the Bay Bridge for car travellers looking to traverse the bridge to Oakland, etc.
The condo had all the basics and everything is like brand new. The only thing missing in the kitchen was a kettle (for us tea drinkers), but it was otherwise stocked with sufficient dishes and utensils, a great coffee maker and coffee, a garburator, dish detergent, laundry detergent, etc. The building is very secure and is absolutely gorgeous. We had a secure indoor parking space and storage locker where we stored our suitcases for the week at no additional charge. A BIG plus for those travelling with (a) a car and (b) lots of luggage! Wireless access was
available in the condo which we put to good use, and there was also a pool, hottub and workout room available in the building next door, but we didn't use them.
Also very handy was the DVD player and the Safeway within walking distance, where we rented a few movies for $1.49 each. There was only basic cable available on the TV, which was rough for my husband during the hockey playoffs! But that just gave us an opportunity to hit the
local Gorden Biersch microbrewery / restaurant right around the corner, which was fantastic.
The condo is not huge but it certainly felt spacious enough for two, and has a great view. We cooked almost every meal there, with plenty of space to work in the kitchen together on full-size appliances. All in all a terrific experience, and a rental I would highly recommend!!
