The 'HAMPSHIRE HOUSE', built in the 1930's by a prominent Washington diplomat as a mountain retreat, is the essence of comfortable elegance, featuring oak walls, exposed beams, hardwood floors, 4 fireplaces, fan -tailed, palladian windows, vaulted wood ceilings, custom built-ins, portico, and a mahogany deck with view - all on a 12 acre estate setting with mature trees and plantings. The home is furnished and accessorized like a primary home with upscale kitchen wear, 4 flat screen TV's, satellite TV, high end bedding and furnishings and tasteful accents. The house was wonderful. The pictures make it look newer . The property is amazing with spectaculor sunsets from the 3rd floor balcony. Plenty of room for a large party. The bed in the master bedroom is like sleeping on a cloud. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in .
The bathrooms and kitchen need some updating..
If you like fireplaces they are eveywhere. We used many of them during our stay and it was very relaxing.
My overall experience was very good all of my guests would agree.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

We loved this place! I have already recommended it to a number of friends. Perfect for a family reunion, ski outing or vacation in the White Mountains. Exceptionally well appointed in terms of accomodations and amenities, many of which seemed to be brand new (mattresses, linens, kitchen utensils, etc.). Clean & comfortable - plenty of room to move around, with lots to do for kids and adults alike. Thank you, Chris.
