Centrally located to Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Indian River & Gaylord. You will love the amenities & our location with a stunning view of the water plus the cleanliness of our home!

Mary Snyder purchased this house in 2006

It is on a private area of the Black River with only 1 neighbor close by. We think it is a 'million dollar' view unlike any other on the river.

Compare nightly prices to single hotel/motel rooms! It is very affordable especially when the cost is split between a couple of families. You can prepare meals in the gourmet kitchen or grill out on the over sized grilling equipment saving you even more.

We came to Northern Michigan as first-time vacationers here and can't wait to come back up here! The area is gorgeous and the people here are beyond compare in friendliness and helpfulness. As for the rental, the pictures don't do it justice--it's breathtaking and easy to settle into. The kitchen is beautiful with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, the bedrooms and bathrooms are roomy, and the owners will bend over backward to be sure to accomodate. We had a sudden conflict come up and were not able to rent at the time we'd planned, but the owners were very willing to work with us on another date so we could still come up and enjoy this lovely home and area. This meant a lot to us, as we had really looked forward to the trip. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and utensils and you can get groceries at the local Walmart in Cheboygan, so just bring your clothing (there is a nice washer and dryer, too). It was too chilly to use the pontoon boat, but it looked fun and inviting. Rent with confidence--you won't be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Thank you for allowing us to share our home & community! Even when the weather changes there is so much to enjoy here without leaving the house. Of course there is fishing & boating but the peace & quiet of just taking it easy is just what a lot of folks need & appreciate!

Beautiful home and setting, exactly as described in the listing. Home, hot tub and pontoon boat are well maintained. Fall color touring by bike was a priority on this vacation. The 10 minute drive to the North Central State Trailhead in Cheboygan made this home an ideal location. Loved soaking in the hot tub after a long day on the trails. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a quite, relaxing, northern Michigan get away.

Owner's Response: Fall & winter are a great time to visit our area! The fall colors are spectacular & then the winter becomes a wonderland of clean white snow. Many woodland creatures are easily seen along the rivers edge against the bright white blanket.

We hope you will visit again next year!

First ever visit to Michigan, so choosing a place to stay was a bit difficult. We got lucky with this choice! House was certainly as described, with every imaginable amenity included, comfortable common spaces and bedrooms, and a really nice location. Owner was great to work with.

Upon arrival, the home was clean and well equipped -- very nice not to have to lug towels and sheets with us! We utilized the pontoon boat a few times, took a couple of kayak trips, and fished quite a bit from the dock. (Didn't catch much, but it was relaxing.) Location was good for getting to the UP and other points of interest. Fire pit was a nice place to relax on the coolest evening we had. Many s'mores were consumed and we had a great marshmallow fight as well.

Only negative we would mention is the water -- well water has a fairly strong sulphur smell that was off-putting to us city dwellers used to treated water, but not really that big a deal once you got used to it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice comments. We try very hard to make it exceed your expectations. On the water having an odor we did just install a new filtering system that has completely eliminated the smell & it tastes great now. We hope to see you again next year!

AWESOME

This was by far the best choice since we have been coming up north to Michigan, our favorite place on earth! This location is perfect for all the fun things to do. While the weather may not have been as hot as it was in years past and a little too chilly for swimming, the fishing was superb! I cannot count how many pounds of fish we caught (we catch and release). Too many. That river is a HIDDEN gem!

Indian River rafting is one of our favorite places and we were able to go rafting/kayaking down the Sturgeon! A blast! We loved Mackinaw City, which we were not able to visit the last 2 times so that was a joy to do this year (the Crossings Mall is really nice).

You have to visit the local store and get the bacon and sausage!

This house was nothing but AMAZING. A stocked kitchen I wanted to bring home with me! Don't need anything (trust me on this).

The beds were perfect and I have 2 large teenagers who had their own bedrooms and bathroom, YES!

Private quarters for parents with their own bath! Beautiful, just beautiful and clean! What more could you ask for. The most amazing event was seeing the stars in the sky at night - thousands of stars (you do not get that in Illinois). It was breathtaking to see.

This would be our retirement dream home! Mary, hope we can come again next year!

A great house-the outside is better than the picture on the web site. The inside could not be any better. Great kitchen, all modern appliances. Lots of antique fishing lures in great displays, great TV's throughout. Great fishing, had wonderful time. Alverno grocery very friendly and helpful, great bacon and sausage. Would recommend to all. Great for peaople with disabilities except for steps to boat and dock fairlly steep.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review! Your comments help other folks to make their decision to know that there won't be any negative surprises when they arrive. Your thoughts are similar to most people with comments of the pictures not doing the property justice. We are glad to hear that you had an enjoyable stay!
