Views:
The view from the property is primarily of the Forest Reserve providing a tropical, woodsy feel. A short 3 block walk, and you're gazing at sapphire ocean with aqua and white breakers on black lava rock beneath a bright blue sky. Walk another few blocks to Kehena Beach and/or Kalani retreat and enjoy a swim, dinner or shop for gifts.
A 15 minute drive provides you with unique SE Big Island views of whales (November through March), dolphins, sea turtles, marine protected tide pools, surfers, lava rock, and the red-orange glow of lava flows against the night sky.
Fruit, Flora and Birds:
Papaya is available to pick on-site when in bloom and ripe, and you can enjoy the vegetable garden as well. Coleus, impatiens, and tropical flowers and plants indigenous to Hawaii are found in abundance right out your front or back door. The Forest Reserve is a nice haven for many species of Hawaiian birds who provide the entertainment while you sip on your first fresh cup of coffee of the day.
