Madeline Whitaker House

Maria, the home owner, went above and beyond for my family. She made us feel right at home and was always a phone call away. She was more then helpful and made sure we had a great trip. Maria advised us to use the subway when going into Boston instead of driving, one of the best tips should gave us.
The house was wonderful too. When traveling there is always a concern of staying in safe neighbor with having two children. We arrived at the house about 11:45 pm, with Maria at the home waiting for us, she assured us that the neighborhood was safe. Which if you every travel here, and I suggest you do, you will find the question of the neighborhood is a little crazy since the area is very nice and quiet. The home is in a great location and we never needed to drive more then an hour. The people in Marblehead where beyond nice and were more then willing to give us advise on things to do and see. The only complate I have is the streets. I am from Wisconsin, the streets in Marblehead are allieways in Wisconsin, there highways, regular streets in my town. Other then that we had a great time and loved the house.

The house was great! it was very clean, well decorated, had wireless internet, and cable. You couldn't ask for better. The owner agreed to let us bring our 2 corgis so it made the trip very enjoyable, especially since the backyard was fenced in. There were several places to walk with the dogs, shops to see, and a park with a waterview. Really lovely and quaint!!
The only downside is that it one side of the house(where the master bedroom is located) is on the main road. The noise from the traffic kept us awake a night so we opted to sleep in the basement guest room. The bed was smaller, but it worked out alright. Sleeping wasn't a problem in the basement.
All in all, very quaint, well-decorated, clean house in a great neighborhood!

Our family (2 adults, 2 girls (ages 4 & 8), 1 golden retriever and 1 ragdoll cat) stayed at this beautiful home for the month of July. The location was perfect for many day trips to Boston, Rockport, Newburyport, Portsmouth, and other wonderful cities. We took the train from Salem to Boston several times and enjoyed the Children's Musueum, Aquarium, Museum of Science and of course the Freedon Trail, great restaurants, and great shopping!

Marblehead is a great town for kids (and dogs!) and we enjoyed Devereaux Beach, Grace Oliver Beach and the dog beach many, many times. The rocky beach at the end of Stramski Way is great for watching the sunset and collecting sea glass. The playground there was fantastic for the kids and just around the corner.

The house had plenty of room for all of us and the fenced in back yard was great for the kids and the dog. We had many cookouts on the grill and dinners on the back patio. We also enjoyed eating at many of Marbleheads great restaurants including The Landing and The Barnacle. For casual meals, Vesuvius had the best pizza and Mino's is the place to go for great roast beef sandwiches.

The house had everything we needed and was perfect for our family. It is very well maintained and the pictures and description on line are very accurate. Maria was wonderful to rent from and very helpful. We will definitely come back to Marblehead and this great home!
