Nearby beaches and attractions:
South Village Beach is only a two minute car ride away (3/4 mile). Swan River flows directly into this beach and is ideal for floats, swimming and kayaking. West Dennis beach with full snack bar and rest rooms is only 5 minutes away. Both of these beaches are on the Nantucket Sound side of Dennis. The water at these beaches is warm. There are also beaches in Dennis on the Cape Cod Bay side of town. Mayflower Beach and Corporation Beach are beautiful expansive beaches with enormous sandbars at low tide. These beaches are about a ten to fifteen minute car ride from our house. The purchase of a weekly beach sticker allows entrance to all of Dennis's beautiful beaches.
For golfers, there are two championship courses in Dennis only ten minutes away. One is Dennis Pines and the other is Dennis Highlands.

Bikers, Hikers, Walkers and Runners:
The Cape Cod Rail Trail follows a former railroad right-of-way for 22 miles through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. Its paved surface, few hills, and well-marked automobile crossings make it ideal for cyclists. The trail has a wide unpaved shoulder on one side to accommodate horseback riding, walkers, and runners. The trail begins in Dennis and is only a mile from the house.
There are many opportunities to get off the trail and visit a beach. Food and water are also readily available and public restrooms can be found at Nickerson State Park, Salt Pond Visitors Center at Cape Cod National Seashore and the National Seashore Headquarters. If you do not have a bike, bike rentals are available at many points along the way. For people with disabilities, a limited number of hand-cycles are available for rent at specific bike concessions.
