Great Beach House

We just had a great week at this beach block house in Avalon.
This house is just steps from the beach, but remember, NJ beaches require all people (12 years of age and older) on the beach to have a beachtag. The house had provided for us 8 beachtags, so we only had to buy a handful more for our group. Beachtags for 2009 are $12.00 for a week - a bargain since the beach in front of this house was raked clean every morning and there were 4 lifeguards patrolling from 10am-5pm every day. With the great surf, it's nice to know the lifeguards are there and yes - they let you boogie board!
We have been going to the Jersey shore with our extended family for about 5 years and this was one of the most comfortable houses we've had.
The neighborhood is great. It's only a few blocks to downtown Avalon with shops, mini-golf, cafe's and restaurants.
It's also two blocks from the boardwalk with pretty ocean views and a fun little pizza shop, ice cream shop and a great beachfront arcade with 25 cent skee ball.
The outdoor shower is FABULOUS. It is one of the best outdoor showers we have had. Good water pressure and a nice clean, private, big shower area to clean off all that sand from the beach.
The neighborhood is beautiful with well landscaped lots and very quiet. We enjoyed walking and biking.
The house was very comfortable with two living areas (great for when the kids wanted to watch cartoons) and a big dining area and kitchen.
The main living area is on the second floor with nice views from the upper deck.
The A/C kept up all week long with no issues. Also, the kitchen is very well stocked with pots/pans/glasses/dishes. We even found two crock pots which came in handy for serving pulled pork barbeque! The grill was big - we grilled two nights for the full house (14 of us) without issue.
