NEW: Want a special dinner cooked for you at home? Try one of our fabulous recommended private chefs, who will create an incredible 5 course meal including delectable homemade desserts, while you enjoy hanging out and relaxing with friends, at a very reasonable price. They will also do very special breakfasts, or even a cocktail party (no extra guests, please). They do all the shopping, serving, and cleaning up, too!
PRIVATE WINE TASTINGS: We have two to offer. First, sample some of the richest reds you've ever had (some whites) with winemaker Bill Wertzberger of wertzbergerwine.com (check out Bill's website!), who will do private tastings only for our guests! You will meet Bill at the wine cellar out in the lush Dry Creek Valley, one of the most beautiful wine valleys around. OR, if you prefer, Sabrina Krauss, our wine concierge, will come to you at the villa, serving up an eclectic collection of boutique winery reds and some whites. Why stress about driving? Sabrina has served me all of the best wines I've ever had; she really knows her stuff. She can also get you anything you find at other wineries, and ship it to you for less than most wineries (do NOT ship wine yourself - you'll pay a premium!). Let us set you up with an appointment for Bill or Sabrina, or both!
MASSAGE: Let us help you arrange a relaxing massage right at the house, about $70 for 75 minutes. Mishi gets high marks from our guests who have hired her, as does Liza! Hire them both!
WINE COUNTRY DRIVER: Donna of Donna's Wine Country Chauffer has been ferrying our guests for many years, for a very reasonable hourly rate. Donna knows all the wine roads and YOU set the itinerary, going wherever you want, for however long you want. Just ask us for her number.
And how about photos to remember your special time with family or friends? We have one available, voted Best in Sonoma County. Just ask.
Hi, we're your hosts, Maureen and Kevin. We have lived in Santa Rosa for 25 years and 30 years. We know you'll fall in love with the natural beauty of our area, as we have: the soaring redwoods, the wild, rocky coast, and the miles and miles of green, rolling, oak-studded hills and vineyards. We enjoy meeting people from all over the United States and the world, and doing everything we can to make sure that their vacation in wine country is the best ever, from buying a birthday cake to making reservations at the best restaurants, to arranging drivers, chefs, and masseuses, or even a private wine tasting right at the house!
Maureen and Kevin purchased this villa in 2007
We did not buy it, we built it, not as a vacation rental, but as our family home, while our daughter was in high school. We planned out every artistic detail of our villa ourselves; it is truly a house like none other. Kevin and I still live in and enjoy our beautiful property and gardens, in our caretaker's studio (no shared walls), to ensure our guests have help at their fingertips. We are there nights only and have our own approach and entrance; your privacy greatly respected.
A special place for families, and extended families to reconnect. Children are very welcome, as are groups of older and senior adults. Also, we are looking for 1-3 month (or 2-3 week) executive stays. Contact us if you are in need of high end corporate housing for short term.
From the moment we entered the home, to the time we left one week later, this was a wonderful location for wine country! The house is spacious and wonderfully decorated and maintained. Our arriving flight from the east coast was delayed, and Maureen/Kevin, the owners, offered to go the grocery store for our arriving dinner. The food they chose was excellent and made for a nice ending to a long day. Maureen was always responsive to e-mails (minor/normal maintenance). This house was a wonderful start and finish to each day for our group of 10 adults. Don't hesitate ... rent from these guys! We will defintely be back!
We planned this vacation as a getaway to celebrate my wife Peggy's and my 60th birthdays. We invited our entire family (four children and significant others) to join us, which they did. Let me start by saying the Villa Santa Rosa exceeded our expectations. It was simply wonderful. The Villa allows everyone their space and privacy in spite of the fact that we had 10 people. The Villa is a great starting point for excursions as we visited Southern Sonoma County, Napa Valley, the Russian River area and the Redwoods/Ocean. We also fit in 2 trips to Healdsburg. Kevin and Maureen were incredibly helpful. I am glad I had a chance to meet both of them. We did most of our evening meals at the Villa and had each couple prepare a meal. It worked great from baking to grilling! We even watched a few movies on Netflix! I really can't do justice to the Villa but let me just say you won't be disappointed. We truly had a vacation of a lifetime - thank you Kevin and Maureen!
There's not enough room here to properly convey how wonderful this property and its owners are, but let me try to be concise. Not only was the house as advertised, it surpassed our expectations beyond belief. We stayed 10 days, and every day was an "OH WOW" day. The personal touches these folks provide upon your arrival, and the personal touches they put in every room of the house to make sure you are comfortable are without rival. All 12 of us were so at home that we never wanted to leave. They are wonderful, engaging, responsive people whose goal is to make you LOVE YOUR VACATION. In their house, it was easy. Look at the pictures to see how fabulous the house is, but only when you get to experience the hospitality will you truly understand what an absolute GEM Kevin and Maureen and their house as a total package are. I have stayed in many vacation properties around the world, and this ranks at the very top in my book!
I did a great deal of searching for the perfect Villa for our family of 10 to spend a week together in the beautiful wine country of California. After looking over the pictures, the description, the reviews, and finally talking to Maureen, I knew I had found it. It was even greater than my expectations. It was a concern to have 10 adults living together for a week but that dissipated immediately. There was tons of room in the house, where everyone could do as much or as little as they wanted without impeding on anyone else's space. The kitchen was a cooks dream for which we all took a try at creating some delicacy. The beautiful "jungle" pool was warm and inviting, and the gardens of flowers were gorgeous. Kevin and Maureen were the greatest hosts. They were there if needed, otherwise, we would only see them tending to the garden, or not at all. There were fresh flowers in every bedroom and the kitchen/dining area. And the pantry was loaded with spices, condiments and all the little things that are usually forgotten when going to the grocery store. The view was spectacular, especially while sitting on the balcony enjoying a glass of wine. Watch for the deer and the quail running about. Kevin and Maureen give great recommendations if your interested in restaurants, grocery, tours, and even having in-house wine tasting (better than the ones we drove to). We ALL enjoyed every minute of our time spent in the Villa and would definitely return.
As has been stated by others, this is simply a terrific place to stay and it is owned by two of the nicest people. We were an extended family of 9 with two sets of parents (how perfect to have two Master Suites); two couples and a College Junior each of whom were ensconced in their own comfortable room with their own bathrobes to stroll to the hot tub in.
Multiple Decks and a large floor plan gave everyone their own private space as well as wonderful get togethers for meals - it is a great kitchen to work in as it is an open floor plan - everyone gets involved! Hiking, wine tasting, redwood forests, great restaurants, shopping are all close by. The views to Santa Rosa below are stunning, particularly at night. A stroll around the hilly neighborhood found many friendly residents to chat with. A common question was if we lived in the area, the common response was: "I wish!"
Upon landing back in snowy, icy New England, we found ourselves plotting a return already...!
Why stay at a hotel when you can stay here? It has the feel of a private resort.
Our group was not prepared for how nice this place was. You can look at the pictures and try to get a sense for the property, but experiencing it is another matter. Everything is clean and well-maintained, and there is plenty of space even for a group of 10. The back of the house and the yard look out over the city of Santa Rosa, offering a beautiful backdrop especially when the sun is setting on a clear day.
The owners were responsive and helpful, and they made the rental process a painless one. We had a great weekend, and I'd recommend the property to any group looking for a relaxing stay in Sonoma.
We are located in the hills above Santa Rosa, in the heart of Sonoma County, 10 min. from downtown Santa Rosa and just a short drive to hundreds of fine wineries and about 45 min. from San Francisco and the beautiful Sonoma Coast. The quaint towns of Healdsburg, Calistoga, and Sonoma are nearby, with their many fine restaurants, art galleries, and pampering spas. We are ten min. south of the Dry Creek Valley on Hwy 101, 20 min. from Calistoga (Napa), and 10 min. north of the Sonoma Valley. Or just relax at the villa and enjoy our English-style 'hummingbird' gardens from the many benches and gazebos around, with literally hundreds of birds zipping around the flowers and flowering trees. You may even see a wild hawk soaring above the open space valley we back up to. At night there are city lights, and by day there are views, views, views!
Other Activities: Walk in the Redwoods along the Russian River (or canoe through them!), go wine tasting in the gorgeous Dry Creek, Alexander, Sonoma or Napa Valleys, or take a jeep tour through Safari West, among African animals, sipping wines or enjoying a ranch style feast afterwards. Taste champagne at Korbel Champagne Cellars on your way out to our beautiful wild coast, then circle back south for seafood in Bodega Bay, and check out the little antique and treasure shops in the towns of Bodega and Sebastopol.
Golf: We have several golf courses nearby. There is the Fountaingrove Country Club, the public Bennet Valley Golf Course, and the most beautiful one of them all (though only 9 holes): Northridge, out under the Redwoods on Hwy 116, about 20 min. away, on the road to the coast. Golf beneath the giants.
Ski: We are three hours by car from Tahoe, with it's many ski lifts, and 5 hours from Yosemite (for summer sightseeing). If you don't feel like driving that far, our beaches are only 35-40 min. away and beautiful any time of year! (Too cold to swim, though, bring a picnic or a fishing rod!)
