The Tidal Experience:
Many guests have asked about what it's like on a tidal cove. At high tide the water is more like a pond and will give you about 5-6 hours of swimming and boating as the water is 8-10 feet high. We've been known to jump off the dock and then climb up the ladder. At low tide, you can walk into the mud and even dig for some clams to have as an appetizer later. The time of the high tide changes throughout the year but there are websites where you can find the time for high and low tides. We also provide a tide calendar at the house.
Personally, I find it very relaxing to sit on the dock to watch the water slowly leave or return to the cove every day. I am fairly sensitive to smells and can assure you that there is no fishy smell at low tide. If you do want to tromp around in the mud, I recommend rubber boots or swim shoes.
